You know, I've always wondered why Verant/SOE never made it so Necros and SKs summoning pets in Kunark were not iksar skeles.

Technically I always thought they should have set Necro pets up similar to how Beastlord pets functioned. Determined by either Race of the Necro or location when the spell is casted, or perhaps dependent upon the type of bone chip used to summon (different type of bone chips drop from different races of skeletons. Look the same physically but different identify and itemid, and thus separate stacks, and different pet race as a result). Or at the very least provide illusions for every skeleton/wraith/ghost race out there. Like the Velious Ice Wraiths or Erudite Ghosts.

If it's of any consolation though they eventually did use the old Kunark Iksar Skeleton Model and the revamped version of the Ice Wraith model as necro pets on Live. But that wasn't until level 85 so good luck getting that on P99. You wanna talk about Luclin not being Classic... :P
