The past few days I've been studying a lot and listening to: Yacht, Memory Tapes, Cut Copy, Ladytron, Fuck Buttons, Starfucker, and the Limousines mostly.

I just snagged that album today (ya, I read pitchfork from time to time, what of it?!). I thought it was a bit too ambient - not on the level of like James Blake, but it was hard for me to listen to without wanting to get high and pass out (I was also studying, so that might have affected my take on it as well).

Radiohead has kinda gone crazy with their use of percussion. Having two drummers in their sets seems a bit excessive to me but maybe the sound will grow on me.
They've rejected guitar rock entirely. Johnny Greenwood doesn't even touch a guitar on some of the tracks on King of Limbs... he's a third percussionist on at least one.

Oh I just found an undiscovered gem:

http://www.myspace.com/noelfeltyvinc...sides-11210668

This band broke up in 1994 prior to the show I believe in Rome, GA, where I was supposed to do a magazine interview with them. This track features Matt Mundy, the mandolin player with Aquarium Rescue Unit. Both Sides featured Mark Mundy, Matt's brother, on guitar. It's not jam music.

I just discovered Youth Lagoon the other day as well. Reminded me a lot of deerhunter. I prefer sigur ros or boards of canada for the more ambient stuff myself.

I like James Blake too. I just have a hard time getting past the r n' b aspect of it you know, but other than that i really dig his stuff.

I'm having a really hard time getting into King of Limbs. Most of the songs on the album sound sort of cluttered and chaotic to me, but i guess that was their intention. Interesting to listen to but the only song that really moved me was Codex; love the melody and chord structure in that one.

On another note. I'm really digging a band that i actually discovered on the radio which i think may be a first. The Naked and Famous Kinda electro-pop'ish i guess?

I also occasionally browse Pitchfork, but oddly that's not where I found Youth Lagoon. I found them on Skeetbeatz most recent Sunday playlist, although it's possible they found it through Pitchfork?

And the reason I was on Skeetbeatz was because I was looking for more info on this new Indie/Electronic group called Carousel, who barely even have a web presence yet. But I'm loving the two tracks they've released so far and am looking forward to more:

Carousel - Here Now

Carousel - Games

I couldn't get into James Blake for some reason, maybe I just haven't given him enough listens to let it grow on me. I'm liking the last link there Noser.
