Dont cof stack?
You can like put a cof into another cof to level it up, but you could also put something that drops off a level one mob to level it up too so it’s like retarded to do that.

Like youd get way more from just giving some newbie a cof than you would from like merging one cof into another cof

-The game is complex, but it's also easy. That means that folks do not have to "get good" in order to succeed. It always amazed me on P99 how people could reach level 50 or so on their toons and not know every in and out of their class. It's even more in Legends. I grouped with healers who didn't heal, pet classes that didn't have pets out, etc. To each their own, and everyone should be able to play the way they want - but it made a few group instances on level 4 difficulty frustrating, and actually more difficult than a solo instance at level 4 difficulty.
This is the main reason I dislike EQL. In classic EQ, the world is dangerous. You can obviously mitigate the danger on a more mature server by twinking your alts, but nothing beats the feeling of starting fresh in classic EQ. EQL's world feels more like classic WoW, which is fine. I like classic WoW. It just no longer feels like classic EQ to me.

but it's not classic eq... isn't that the point? A new game in a familiar setting?

I'm not sure what the devs intentions were, but the end result is a game that lacks risk.

-meta everything is unavoidable. null point.
-global chat channel is great and entertaining. cry more.
-it's everquest. no lifers on any game is nothing new and has nothing to do with me or my enjoyment.

other negative points have nothing to do with my enjoyment of the game or mechanics, just what other people do online. which is null and void.

horrible write up.

I think it's fun. I think we can safely assume that was the intention.

The intention is revenue. That's why it comes with a one time purchase fee and a monthly subscription and an in-game cash shop. Because of the low up-front cost, the company will depend on recurring subscriptions to make the vast amount of it's projected revenue, which means it needs players to stick around.

I just don't see people sticking around for any meaningful length of time. EQL looks like a tourist-mode experience. You go in, you take a couple of pictures, you get some falafel, you go home.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's not going to flame out quite so soon. There is a very large player pool available, from all the current and past players of EQ who want to try something new as well as the regular crowd of new-MMO seekers who keep getting burned on the latest offerings. But for the individual player the tenure will be short.

-Meta everything. This is just gaming in 2026, but everyone talks about the Meta of which classes to play. Every decision is theory-crafted by people who've watched hundreds of hours of Closed-Beta, before they even booted up the game to try and decide what to play and how to play. It's much different experience than OG EQ, and even on p99, where most people just spin-up a toon and start playing
I played a few days this last week, and there's surely a large portion of the population that goes very deep into theoryQuest, metaQuest, etc. But there also seems to be a significant number of people who are returning to EQ after many years away.

The game doesn't feel *too* easy, but it's definitely easier than p99 by leagues. I enjoy it, because I have such limited play-time these days.

They patched twice already during Open Beta, and early on it's encouraging to see that the devs are experimenting and trying new balances, etc.

I do hope, however, that they don't listen to the vocal minority of ultra-gamers. I fear that this teams' lack of experience with this large of a player population means they will capitulate to the vocal minority, players who are ultimately fickle when it comes to what games they play. The ultra-gamer wants the game to be the way they envision it, just to stop playing in 2 months after they've speed-runned through all the content.

Honestly this is what I am looking for from Everquest at this juncture, so it seems a savvy move by Daybreak.

You guys know how nostalgiaquest posts pictures of him traveling all over the world, enjoying different cultures and places?

Thats what playing everquest on servers like EQL and P99 and Live TLPs is like. But for Norrath.

Nostalgiaquest is still a human, who lives on earth. Despite not staying in one place his whole life [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
