Well the goat signed the bill, so you can add the Epstein files to your list of wins.

Promises made. Promises kept.
Not like it mattered what he did and certainly not a promise kept - more like a force of his hand.

The bill was veto-proof: Both the House (427-1 vote) and the Senate (unanimous consent) passed the bill with supermajorities.

Is this a Constitutional authority or one of them things Congress has arrogated to itself by statute? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

something... something... Article I, Section 7, Clause 2; I believe.

Speak of Congress what have they pass... 38 bills in all of the year?

One of which was the GENIUS Act claimed to be backed by things like "Commercial Paper," which is a fancy term for short-term corporate debt; meaning the stablecoin was less like cash in a safe and more like an opaque digital IOU for debt that might or might not be good.

I guess the existential irony in its name and purpose... heh.. stable coin.

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] It's like a bank telling you your savings account is fully backed by cash... but the "cash" is actually a collection of promises from your weird uncle who owes them money.

Well my guy, I have news for you: It happened under his watch.

Hope this helps you get over the promise he made to me, that has been delivered, that I didn't even care about, and is really important to you for some reason.

Wait, so you're upset about a thing you don't care about, that was done for you, but is somehow about me? Are you a wizard?

You idiot. That describes the mechanics of a bill becoming a law.

It's been well established that Congress can pass laws that are completely illegal.

What article, section, and clause gives them the power to legislate in this area of interest?

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] The ability of Congress to pass any law, including the veto proof is granted by Article I, Section 8. But Article I, Section 7, Clause 2 is the only way the Executive Branch can try to stop that law from becoming enacted.

The fact that a bill is veto proof just means congress has exercised its legislative authority from Article I, Section 8 with a majority that it has simultaneously fulfilled the conditions in Article I, Section 7, Clause 2 to override any presidential objection.

So.... while Section 8 grants the power to create the law, Section 7, Clause 2 defines the final procedural hurdle that a law must clear, either by getting the President's signature or by achieving a two-thirds override vote.

See its all cool baby [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

my history professor senses are tingling was/is that your profession?

Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution lists the powers of Congress, including the authority to tax, borrow money, regulate commerce, coin money, and declare war.
Are you trying to make me call you an illiterate foreigner?

I don't really want to.
