VS is one of those few bosses in EQ where operation human wave is massively detrimental to success. It's one of my favourite fights due to this - small coordinated strike force does best.... even though I do love the concept of 200 people rushing dragons too! The devs did really well with the vibe and execution of the VS fight. More like an assassination of a top target than a battle.
Took me like 12 VS raids to ever even find VS. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Got my wizard epic from a 6-man 3 AM VS. That was pretty fun.

I love how RecondoJoe acts like there is such a thing as being bad in a group on P99 for an SK or a Rogue lol
SK pulled the entire zone of CT to the top of the pyramid, feign deathed and let the group die and began shit talking the group as we're dying and he lay there in FD that the pull of 30+ mobs is somehow our fault. I gave him a free pass the first time. When we recovered our bodies and got our camp set up, it happened again 20 minutes later. Decided I can't play with this person anymore because I'm losing too much experience.

Rogue used an SBD, which isn't really toxic, but he kept pulling aggro and was causing me to go completely OOM at fireplace in UR. Our group was actually sitting at like 80% mana before he joined, so we somehow got worse by having him in the group. Was this enough to get him canceled?

Nope. A few weeks later, someone told me they found a rogue to join our group at Kobold Royals. After waiting for an hour I ask for the name of the Rogue so I can message him to see if he's really coming. Same Rogue. He's sitting in West Commons, saying he can't come to Sol B until he finds a teleport to Lavastorm or Nektulos forest. He could have easily ran there in like 5 minutes, no exaggeration.

Dude finally shows up 2 hours late, and refuses to pull. We have an ogre warrior who can't pull due to lack of shrink. The entire reason they were looking for a melee dps was so we would have a puller. I ended up having to pull for the group as the Cleric. And this is true classic. You run into mana issues really fast even if you're sitting there meditating. While this same rogue we just spent hours waiting on is sitting there twiddling his thumbs.

After both of those experiences I decided I don't want to play with him anymore. I could add almost any other player to my group and have a positive experience. BTW I still know his name and he still plays. Ironically I ran into the same player on his Enchanter and he was a really nice person. I'm not saying he's a bad guy or anything, but when his Rogue is in my group, the experiences have been so bad that I don't want to play with him anymore.

I'm not an elitist either, I regularly insist we invite players to our group even if we don't need them and it means we will be getting less experience. But those are 2 out of the 3 players I remember grouping with and the experience being so toxic I don't want to play with them anymore. It's extremely rare for that to happen on a community like P99.

Those people aren't "bad" (read: unskilled/unknowledgeable) players, they're assholes. There's a difference.

Given that it happened multiple times, the SK was probably intentionally training you guys for fun under the cover of a bad pull.

Tell them you gave their pet a pair of +13 MR rings. Doesn't matter if you did or not.

IDK, I think I would consider them bad. I think the Rogue said he didn't know Sol B and thus, couldn't even attempt to pull etc. I can't remember what his reasoning was. At the same time I've seen his Enchanter solo'ing some pretty dangerous stuff, in dangerous areas of the game, so it's hard to know.

I also think that the SK had a reputation, IE. when I complained about him wiping the group two times in a row with ridiculous shenanigans, other people pointed out that he always does this etc.

Just felt surreal to see people I considered fairly skilled / favored people to group with get rejected by Seal Team, and then see these types of people get in. But at the same time Seal Team's website was talking about how they had a shortage of SK and Rogues, so I think they actually just lowered the standards for these people etc.

It's a true story. Those actually are ... some of the only instances where a player triggered me enough by my group experience with them that I still remember them years later. There was other people who were blatant boxers and what not. I remember avoiding them out of fear I could get in trouble etc. I didn't really know how to use OBS or Twitch back then, but if there's ever another new version of P99 I plan on streaming the entire time just so I have recordings of the cheaters, because some of it was pretty blatant.

Also I'm not a smurf account. I have at least 3 high level characters on this account, but a lot of times I like to spread my characters out on other accounts because in my experience it's faster to swap characters that way. Also I've never been banned before, but I know someone who got banned, and then continued playing on their other account like nothing even happened etc. So it could be an extra layer of security, but I don't really get in trouble on P99. Pretty rare for me to even group with another player these days :-\
