![]() My personal dickhead triumph was ninja looting a white scale off Gorenaire for my bard epic. Was the last thing I needed for months, and the guild I was in wasn't interested in doing Gore. I took my brother's old account he wasn't playing anymore and ran an Iskar from Cabilis all the way to DL and parked him near the zoneline where most guilds killed gore.
I waited until a school mate's guild was going to kill Gore. As soon as she went down I snuck in while the raid group was ressing and another naked iksar wouldn't look out of place. A good portion of the raid had died and I was able to take advantage of the chaos. Got my body positioned perfectly so I could sit inside the corpse without being seen. Then started spamming /loot hotkeys I knew the guild leader would tell the raid not to open the corpse until he had a chance to be the first to see the loot, and if I remember right there wasn't any visible timer for when you could loot, just said you weren't allowed to yet. I sat there hiding and spamming /loot until I got in. I saw the scale, looted it, and then camped out like my life depended on it. Logged onto my bard and asked my school mate how the kill went and his response was "bad luck, no book or scale" and I'm like "awww bummer mate", all while jumping around in my bedroom excited as hell. Biggest adrenaline rush I ever felt playing the game lol, and somehow I had gotten away with it. To be safe I waited a few weeks before transferring it over to my Bard. Still no heat and no one the wiser. Then made up some lame story to my guild about how I had bought it from an old player who was clearing out his account and wanted plat. And just like that, I had my Bard epic [You must be logged in to view images. ![]() Lots of these make what I did pretty tame lol! I mostly would KS etc as there were no rules really back in classic. I used to make tons of use of bad pathing and my druid, especially early on in CB. I used to train the entire castle and just DoT Dvinn. The entire zone would run from the entrance and and forth to where the elves are to turn in the screaming mace. If you went to the other side of the hill, the train would path all the way back to the entrance, and if you hopped back over, it would turn around and run all the way around the castle...picking up mobs as it moved.
We used to sell the daggers for like 100pp a piece and split the $$. Made good bank that way at like lv 18. Best part was nobody really knew why they were running. Once we killed dvinn we would loot and zone, leaving 30+ orcs smashing everyone on the way back.

Posting this guy's Reddit thread here. He has some good ones if I recall, from back when EQ mechanics were much more janky and things were getting figured out and then patched out. The super interesting story he has which I don't remember being a thing was NPCs being able to take their own faction hits. https://www.reddit.com/r/gametales/c...pular_request/

![]() My friend group is the reason they added a box to the game asking if you are sure you want to drop an item on the ground. We would make gnomes and ask to see an item in trade window etc. Usually an item someone was wearing, that way when we saw it disappear from being equipped on them, we knew they had it on their cursor and were about to open trade with us and then we would move, and when the item dropped to the ground, we would pick it up and steal it. Remember you could also disarm players in duels and steal their weapon after it fell to the ground. Got an executioner axe this way back when they were a big deal.
I remember one of my friends binding someone we didn't like to the Plane of Hate during a huge pull, and the person had no idea. The next day he cast gate, ended up in PoHate and got stuck in an insane death loop, lost a ton of levels, never saw him again etc. I feel like trains were pretty standard / classic. On P99 getting intentionally trained is pretty rare. On live getting trained was a normal part of the game for a multitude of reasons, but often times, for fun. I remember if I died because a guard was dead, I would create a level 1 character, and then pull all the gate guards to the person killing said guard so they would die etc. I remember realizing elves are KOS in the evil part of Ak Anon, and luring elves there after they asked for directions to a specific location, and then offering to pull their corpse for them. After they consented me I would just steal all of their items. And no, I'm nothing like this as an adult. People on EQ actually say they feel guilty because I don't loot much or even roll on coveted items. I was just an evil ass little kid, but it was made way worse because my friends and I fed off of each other's energy. I could actually name a lot of other messed up things I did over the years, but I think people forget that people weren't as friendly on EQ in 1999-2003'ish. The game actually felt more like PVP than modern WoW does since groups were constantly fighting over content. I don't remember high level characters doing drive-by buffs, or giving lowbies free items etc. like they do on P99. I think the more hostile environment made us more callous towards other players because odds are most of us had been regularly trained, KS'd, player hated on etc.

![]() Also IDK If yall remember this, but if you went linkdead, your character would turn into a killing machine. Whenever we got the exe axe, we loved challenging higher level players to duels and then typing /q once the duel started because the damage cap would be removed and suddenly your level 10 character is now wielding an exe axe like he's a level 50 npc. I really don't know if anyone remembers this, but this was so hilarious. There was no Discord back then, so I remember being on the phone with my friend asking what happened after I typed /q and them LOL'ing that my character just decimated a much higher level player.

![]() Definitely cybered with a guy's wife when I was a hormone high 18yr old, he even caught one of my dirty tells on her screen and logged off in a panic in the middle of our raid, determined never to play again to face him (he also played EQ, both in our guild).
She emailed me that she explained it away (no idea how, it was a bad tell) and convinced me to log back on. He never said anything somehow. Then a different gal I was into gave me her account info so I could corpse recover her toon. I knew this other guy was into her and he messaged her, I said something like "aww you're so cute, plz cyber with me [You must be logged in to view images. I squelched his boner so hard and he never spoke to me again.
