Which freedoms exactly? That we did away with a 2% tax on a single item to be free to get taxed into the dirt with no representation?
The intolerable acts were mostly intolerable because they were extractive to a foreign land. British home islands residents paid plenty of tax to their own government, as did the citizens of the individual colonial governments.

Quote:
5. Window Tax

Description: A tax based on the number of windows in a house.

Details: Introduced in 1696 and in effect during the 18th century, the window tax was a proxy for wealth, as larger homes with more windows paid higher rates. Rates varied, but by the 1760s, households with more windows faced steeper taxes (e.g., 6d to 1s per window for larger homes).

Significance: This tax was unpopular, as it led some homeowners to brick up windows to reduce their tax burden. It disproportionately affected the middle and upper classes but was seen as intrusive.

6. Hearth Tax (until 1689, but not during the Revolution)Description: A tax on the number of hearths (fireplaces) in a household.

Details: While this tax was abolished in England in 1689, it’s worth noting as part of the historical tax landscape. It was replaced by taxes like the window tax, which served a similar purpose.

Significance: By the 1760s, the hearth tax was no longer in effect, but it had shaped earlier tax policy debates.

throw down a challenge
I had the chance to snipe one of the camps I wanted just now but once I realized the person had just gone to a city to bank I gave them clarity and a rune and wished them well and logged off. I play on Blue because I like to avoid conflict over camps, so I would rather not get into a heated exchange over the PNP regarding a boring camp that people don't normally come to outside of the holidays [You must be logged in to view images. Your whole post could be summarized by saying:

Fear of Missing Out.

Fun is subjective. Some people look at you drinking beer like a mad man, like -- sweet enjoy the heart disease and obesity! Some people look at it, like one guy posted -- lets go, challenge time, drink yay.

Lots of folks don't get a lot of time off except around the holidays and love playing games, so the staff doing bonuses etc, is like magic for them.

In conclusion, 4th of July is celebration alot of things, including freedom. Let people do wtf they want, and you do you.
IDK if fomo is the right word. I also don't necessarily think I'm trying to control other people. I just wish people played EQ because they enjoyed playing it. If what you were saying was true, and this was people who hardly ever play the game, and were logging in during their 4-day weekend I would agree with this sentiment. But these are players in the top guilds wearing BIS everything at level 50, often times accompanied by a large number of level 60s in their guilds.

I do kind of regret making this thread in hindsight, but I get hyperbolic over P99. I also had a meltdown over logging into find my character was over weight from medicine bags before realizing I could just cast Berserker Spirit thing on myself and bank in Cabilis with Iksar illusion.

That being said, it does bring me a small amount of joy to do drive-by buffs of leveling groups in Oasis during this event because I know how exciting it is to be on the receiving end of these. Playing without clarity in general can feel kind of daunting in this game, but particularly at low level.

I'm not an expert on any of this, but wasn't the lack of representation what angered them the most? We kind of relate to this in the state where I live. We live very rurally, and pay the same amount of taxes as people living in cities, but we don't feel like we get the same out of our tax dollars as the people who live closer to the capital. We actually have to pave our own roads with our own money etc.

It’s 1984, mate, revolution is just one elite using sound bites to get the poor on board to usurp and overthrow the ruling elite. Not for the benefit of the poor, but for the power-grab of one elite from another.
