It wasn't even about the writers, it was so actors like aaron paul who already made 20 million from breaking bad could get residuals from streaming.

But the worst thing of all, was this was literally following covid, and first responders getting sick, paid shit, getting laid off, and inflation.

While we needed hollywood to rally us, they chose to attack the power structure because they deserved more millions.

I’ve said since the beginning the problem was never actually “THE MESSAGE” aka forcing one party‘s politics down all the viewer’s throats

It was always terrible garbage dogshit writing

Had the writing been good, people like me wouldn’t have been taken in by the message, but would have still been entertained by the movie/show

But, had the writing been good, lots of other more gullible people would have been taken in by the message

But the writing was terrible garbage dogshit, which pushed everyone away from the message. The bad writers did a bigger disservice to “marginalized communities” than any right wing propaganda commentator ever could

I've dipped in on some "Netflix originals", the writing is generally trash and any storyline progression is shit/predictable. I feel like half of us could come up with a basic crime story and it'd pass for netflix at this point.

People are either easily entertained or my expectations are too high in 2025 lol

Half the skits on tiktok are better than the entire scripts in hollywood these days.

I thin the vast majority of people just don't give a c about movies anymore.

Gen Z/Alpha can get anything a movie offers, from scrolling on their phone.

The longer hollywood takes to get people back into seats, the more people realize they can get eveyrthing they need to enterain themselves for a couple hours before sleep after a hard days work, for free on tiktok and social media.

Hooooo yea

I re-watched the first 4 (only ones that matter) seasons of game of thrones, and I am always blown away by how much better actually good writing can be:

Like this riddle proposed by Varys:

Or this convo between Tyrion and Littlefinger

Or even a lot of Steven King’s stuff. Like stuff from Shawshank talking about Andy Dufresne

Some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone

Stephen King is a hardcore leftist wokie but damn he could be a wordsmith sometimes

My stepdad has always been a super leftist, hardcore democrat, blue-no-matter-who, literally a card-carrying sierra club member, die-hard environmentalist with a chemistry PHD

He's been coming around on trump the past couple months, of course he doesn't like the guy but he's begun to understand how the dems have just been liars about everything.

so there is hope for everyone
