it will unironically be like the AI from hitch hikers guide if it works at all. instead of just printing out the response like your normally used to seeing by using these websites, imagine waiting like a minute per letter to appear on the screen

it's probably even longer than a minute per char depending on hardware, DeepSeek is 671 billion parameters, my computer was struggling to run a local LLM that was only 7 billion parameters.

my pc is also old as fuck though

but yeah this is literally some if you PC can't run Crysis type shit don't bother. basically. and just give your data to whoever wants to host a LLM for you

Another way to think about this is that, accounting for Moore’s Law + inflation (2% per year), you’ll be able to buy enough compute to run R1 locally for $1000 in 5-7 years, so 2030-2032
6 grand or even 13 is still insanely cheap for what it is, especially when you remember and adjust for inflation the price of PCs in the 1980s

i just googled what my familes first computer cost in 1985, and this LLM setup is only 2 grand more adjusted for inflation

terrible, and i don't even know what software people use in Linux for that shit. like the old go to mspaint replacement was fucking impossible to learn cause everything was in different places just to fuck with you.

i found one that's a mspaint clone finally but like actual art/animation. fuck no. i couldn't even use Photoshop or Adobe Vegas good on windows for like basic video/image editing.

Ha!

I hope you meet an angel.

Then have two beautiful children.

Then graft your body with machine.

Then cut one of their hands off and take over the galaxy.

everytime ive tried to enable updated Nvidia drivers on Ubuntu on Prebuilt machines like this it always bricks the entire Linux install due to no longer even printing text to the screen, now hopefully street fighter V lags less

Feels like i'm teaching a parrot curse words or something by using these Agent personas. gonna try for "So Money" responses à la Swingers (1996) next. Who doesn't need a Trent Copilot in their life.

Trent : Baby, that was money! Tell me that wasn't money.

Mike : That was so demeaning.

Trent : She smiled, baby.

Mike : I can't believe what an asshole you are.

Trent : Did she, or did she not smile.

Mike : She was smiling at what an asshole you are.

Trent : She was smiling at how money I am, baby.
