Yep. Unfortunately this is one of DSM’s biggest weaknesses. Napkin math does not always translate to reality. You can’t solo one frog on a level 60 shaman - tabulate those numbers from that specific fight and then assume you could replicate that in a fast paced xp group with multiple charm pets with a kill time of <20 seconds. That other F’n thread went on for hundreds of pages (of the nearly 600 total pages) in large part due to that.

You don’t just go do one parse (of any length) against one single mob and then try to make assumptions that applies verbatim to the whole game.

… but the more you do it the better you globally come to understand the game.

I have always enjoyed applying the scientific method to my addiction of choice (EQ). I genuinely find satisfaction in it - that’s why I parse things literally any time I’m on with a heads up display. I don’t often do the deep dive but it does give you a good general awareness.

Most common theme I see? People have no idea how much damage they actually do. Most people severely overestimate what they or some classes can do.

Troxx still hasn't named a single mob to parse, or a proper timeframe. He does this because any time data proves him wrong, he will claim the mob wasn't right, the parse wasn't long enough, etc.

With his supposed experience, this should be trivial.

I’ve taught a lot of medical students and young residents over the years. You occasionally find the broken one who is unable to think independently and become the self-motivated adult learner that is really required to work in the field.

-Most of the ones in medical school are likely to fail.

-Those few who manage to squeak through and pass medical school almost always wash out of residency and go off to work in some fail-boat doc in a box style urgent care never having finished the most substantial and important part of their medical training.

DSM: there is no argument you’re going to win here. I already know the answer. I also know you won’t listen to me. You’ve already shit on work I’ve done for you in the past. You were then (and I expect you probably still are) incapable of understanding the data you were given. Perhaps you’ll be more prone to a “eureka” moment if you gather the data yourself.

Put down the napkin and the calculator. Go forth and parse! Pick a zone, pick some targets. Gather data. Lots of it! Then go somewhere else fun and do it again. I promise over time it will all fall into place. It doesn’t have to be a chore.

Troxx continues to provide nothing to back up his claims. He writes paragraphs of off-topic nonsense to cover his lack of knowledge.

At the end of the day, he just keeps proving he has no idea how to properly parse mobs. He should be able to easily give us examples of mobs he's parsed in the past to come to his conclusions, and the timeframe.

Troxx doesn't give specifics because then he can't weasel his way out of being wrong. For someone supposdely so smart, he isn't hiding this obvious tactic very well. He is simply afraid to be wrong.

Pro-tips:

Now move to a different zone (preferably different expansions as you see the biggest variance in going from classic to kunark to velious more than, say, separate zones within Kunark).

Once you have done that you will have a really good idea of the reality for a level 52 monk. Be careful not to assume that “truth” for a level 52 monk is the same as a level 60 monk - it will NOT be the same (scaling dmg bonus, innate triple attack at 60, etc).
