EQ2 is a hit! And they called it Wildfire!
From the ruleset of the new TLP:
Additionally, this server will be our first attempt at cock blocking. In short, once an NPC is engaged, it will be locked to that character, group, or raid. Characters not part of the lock cannot contribute damage. Spells from outside characters will not land on the NPC. If an actively locked NPC loses aggro for a short time period, the NPC will go home, reset, then unlock. Straight outta 2004! Called a developers tool, call it isolation, an ice down, burstification, no doubt You still ain't the killer! Ice cubed mob goin' home since the gang wiped, you can try, but why, respawn come in five, and it's a cool down, control the clowns, lock em down? No way. Yes way! This is pure straight up eq2.

Confirmed encounter locking literally was in EQ2 at launch since I played then, and they got rid of it within like the first month because everyone hated it
