I didn't search that out it just randomly rolled into my feed on the internet and I have maturity and safe filter on.... so I don't see stuff like that. My only main beef is it's a public airport, not even like a private hotel lobby, it's in China tho so who knows.

I have been to Japan. It is a weird place. But I'd go back. I have family there.

Violent stuff because its fun to me ... but I never ever understood why people , in the majority , that enjoy anything anime related , love that weird kid stuff. I like weird stuff, I like gore and whatnot ... but I never could understand that strange fascination. Of everything done recently in the past decade I lean more towards Inuyashiki or One Punch Man ... but when I begin to talk with other people they ... they begin to talk about( these are grown ass MEN of 30+ years , 40+ years) of kiddie shows where the prota and deutera are ... kids or teens in high school that suffer anxiety and have crushes on others. Id rather watch rape yaoi than that. I hate it when I try to talk about cool animes and I crash into that wall ... Not everyone into anime like that chibi kiddi stuff, but they seem to be the more prevalent. As a side note this : I work in mental health services online and I have noticed a trend of female sex workers that are forced into weird costumes(they dislike) because that is what gives more money, and I mean stuff that borders on that particular borderline subject you mentioned, they find it creepy but they need the money [You must be logged in to view images. I lived in Japan for about 6 years. I fucking love the place and had some of the most fun of my life there, but I can definitely confirm they are weird as shit.
Some examples off the top of my head - All phones in Japan are required to make a shutter click noise when you take a picture, even if you're on silent mode, because a bunch of creepy old guys were taking upskirt pics of girls in skirts while behind them on escalators. you can buy weird manga porn magazines in every convenient store, and I constantly saw salary men opening looking them on the train. Also saw many a guy casually watching porn on his phone on the train. Girl idol singing groups - Every year theres a big craft beer festival in Yokohama. A buddy of mine owns a brewery that was in the competition, so he gave me a free brewers pass to get in early and help set up. As the doors were about to open to the public, there was a massive line of guys outside, all mostly dressed like salary men. I'm like "sweet, once the doors open these dudes are all gonna start buying beer". BUT NO. They all rushed right by the beer stands to the music stage where out came a teenage girl idol group. All these guys look like they're 40+ years old but they are obsessed with these girls. They know all the lyrics and all the dances to all the songs. Even more, all the girls in the group wore a specific color outfit; red, green blue, etc. And these guys all had colored glowsticks for their favorite girl they busted out and started waving around. Suuuper creepy. And then once the girls were done, over half the dudes all left. Bought tickets to a beer fest just to watch a teenage girl group. And for a lot of these girl groups, they have to literally sign contracts saying they're not allowed to be in a serious relationship while in the group because then the creepers will stop showing up. Like I said. It's one of my favorite places on earth, but fuckin hell it can get weeeeird.

Why thanks for asking! She was working as a research professor at one of the universities in Tokyo, getting funding essentially from the Japanese government. Being a foreign female in the japanese work culture is fucking rough. They’re both racist and incredibly chauvinistic. Especially when their government is involved. And the way they do grad students there is also fucked up. Basically they don’t pay their grad students at all. So the few she had were miserable having to work nights at ramen shops and shit. So while she enjoyed being there a lot outside of work, after a few years of dealing with that nonsense she was happy when an offer came from the Netherlands.
I was lucky in that I worked as an engineering contractor for the US Navy. So I had the luxury of working on an American base with American work values while still being able to enjoy the local culture. I got the best of both worlds. My contract was ending about the same time as when she got the NL offer, so it worked out pretty nicely. She left on good terms still has a cross appointment at the Tokyo university so she’s able to spend 2 months a year there, assuming they ever open their fucking borders back up. We’re hoping that by winter we can get back in for the ski season. It’s the best powder I’ve ever skied. So deep you need a snorkel!
