oh we all know that the "classic" ship sailed long ago

only one thing matters though:

Do you enjoy playing EQ on P99? If yes, continue! If no... seek help, like TAKP!

Made my mark, won the game, moved along. I come back to reminisce and see what kind of madness is happening. I don't need to put in hours a day to relive the experience now =)

On live I was a necro, so the biggest nerf I recall was the pet weapons nerf. I also recall a perception that necros got nerfed a lot, but I can't recall other specific examples.

My understanding is that enchanters had lots of early nerfs, . Apparently lull spells originally did not have a chance to aggro the monster, and could be spammed ad nauseum to trivialize almost any encounter. I'm also told that Whirl 'til You Hurl (lvl 16 vanilla spell) was an absurdly strong stun spell and was abused to power level against helpless targets.

I also heard somewhere that shamans had charm in early days? Or maybe that was in the beta, but not early Live.

i always wondered why whirl 'til you hurl existed at all, seemed out of place and useless when you had other stuns available.

so i guess it had another function, until they buffed mez or charm which then made the ench godlike OP, other nerfs were necessary.

The biggest nerf on P99 I can remember is sneak pulling by monks (IMO). It used to be you could FD, sneak, pop up, and tag a mob in the back and that is the only mob that would come (raid bosses included). It made pulling very trivial for Monks. Was a lot of pissed off people when they removed sneak pulling

Many enchanter spells nerfed to the ground. Lull gets critical resists, stuns break early…

Dots do half DMg if shit walks toward you and not rooted or feared.

Jboots becoming a quest.

Circlet of shadows cast time

Oh speaking of whirl till you hurl, was that when player cast stuns got capped at ~4 seconds duration?

Wizards have a whole bunch of stuns that ‘should’ last for ages (and do if cast by an npc) but don’t so are of rather limited use.

Shamans still have Charm (animal only though) at lower levels even on p99. I remember charming Elephants to farm treants in South Karana with my shaman. Good times...

You can get a rather nice pet that's really better than the lvl34 doggo

Too bad we don't get that option later on, I'd love to be able to charm stuff & farm in WW like my druid buddies

biggest nerf in p99 history is Ivandyr's Hoop. they totally broke HT for necros across the board. This could have been a simple trick, change the hoops cast time or something. but no, they bend necros over the knee and totally screwed up their ht.

Bards being limited to 25 mobs while swarming AND also leashing being implemented which makes swarm kiting (and just general pulling) more tedious.

Not being able to give your pets commands while you are casting a spell (this was nerfed a couple years ago along with not being able to see dot damage).

Having your dot damage be reduced if a mob is moving
You still can, macros & keys won't work but you just have to type your pet command :

start casting Ignite Bones on a fleeing mob
/pet back off
/pet follow
cycle through targets, change your target with whatever key you've set up (F8, Tab, etc.)
pet attack

Since you can recall previously typed commands (is it Ctrl or Shift + Up/ Down Arrow, I can't remember atm), you can give your pet a couple commands while your spell's on the way [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
