Changing website password

I need to change the website password, but each time I try, I get the error that changing email address is disabled.

Am I missing something?

Are you trying to change the password or change to a different email address?

The ability to change email address was disabled long ago to deter RMT account transfers/selling

You should be able to change the password but you have to keep the same email address assigned

Whenever I change the password, the error I get indicates the server is confused about my request. It thinks I want to change my email address…

When I change forum password it works with no errors

I enter Current Password then New Password and Confirm New Password. I dont touch the email lines (they are prefilled) and click on Save Changes and the new password is set
