I feel like the biggest benefit is the low pressure style of play. We are 11 months from Kunark, no need to level fast to cap. There is very little raid content. The populations are pretty stable but not overcrowded. There isn't much in the way of amazing gear so you can play almost naked and experience the game on another level of difficulty.

You'll end up exploring parts of the game you just breezed by or bypassed because Kunark has better leveling spots. Plus there are certain legacy items you can still get that don't require listing. Box of Abu-Kar springs to mind.

Teal has been really fun, I'm normally an altaholic and here I know I'll play right to cap before playing another toon seriously.
another +1. Well said.

A part of the community seems entirely driven by leveling as fast as possible no matter the cost, and their behavior tends to fall well short of commonly accepted principles of discourse and courtesy.

It is best to stay out of the places they focus on, unless you enjoy the constant conflict that arises between these people as they try to out-compete everyone else.

HHK is one of those places because of the higher ZEM.

About 90% of the game is free of those people, there are plenty of good places to hunt and find groups, and the less crazy people you'll find there will be cool and fun to hang out with.
That's true. Good point. I do love HHK but even on blue it could get a bit..."crazy" is a generous term.

Green/Teal play completely differently than Blue due to Blue’s extended timeline. You’re missing out on a fun challenge if you aren’t playing on the new servers.
+1

id recommend waiting for planes to open, it's a very slow grind on most classes on green and theres little to look forward to help motivate you through it

The grind feels more brutal in Vanilla EQ because of the lack of leveling options once you get into your 30s. Everyone is funneled into the same camps. Kunark remedied this problem, but it's nearly a year away.

its not that its too slow, it's that there's not much to look forward to at 50 right now content wise so when you start burning out it's a bit harder to drag yourself back

That's why it's my plan to park anyone who gets to the 30s until Kunark. I can't play enough to worry about doing that for all character slots, I can't imagine having more than a few.

Also I like OT too much to already be passed it. And I may stop a couple around 20 so they can do LOIO, I like that one too much too. Velious was also good, but I still think the best EQ content came with Kunark.

You should roll on Green/Teal because I've been helping make it more classic, Ballz. Get Neesha here too and make it a party [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Is blue really that dead?
Population seems to be slightly lower than teal at the moment. Biggest difference is people are largely high level (but there are still leveling groups in the goto places) and also it's more spread out.

So with all that being said is there any other practical benefits to starting over on one of the new servers outside of just a fresh start and the possibility to earn an OP pre-nerf item?
Pre-nerf items are cool, but are highly over rated and not OP. The charm of green/teal is its matching timeline with eq live. Blue was great, but being in kunark for so long and having lots of bugs/fixes makes it more of a test server. Blue will always be the og server, and hopefully when the timeline for classic green/teal is finished they will merge with blue. Green/teal feels more classic than blue with no translocators, lots of noob items for sale you've never heard of, and crowded areas. Your characters on blue are now all alts, make your main on green/teal [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
