I never understood the rush to 50 then raid method in the first place, since the raids themselves are usually hours long wait fests followed by hours long click fests, I find it the most boring and mechanical part of EQ or any MMO really.

We have always approached it as it's the journey that's important, not the destination, and rarely take the fastest leveling road. When our characters get up to raiding levels they usually go into mothballs and we start new ones, and see what places we can go that we didn't with the last characters.

That's the other reason we've always avoided raiding, it seems to be the place of maximum arguments and complaining and much less than adult behavior. Really no idea how all of that is fun in any way.

Directly competing with other guilds was my highlight of live. We would race, steal pulls, train, highsun bosses and DA tanks on enrage, and there was a lot of forum drama. But that was never even close to the mess on P99. These days I much prefer instanced raiding. Competing tor first kills and who can do what with the fewest is plenty enough competition.

This is what I would think if I based my opinions off what I saw on the forums, but speaking atleast for the Blue raid scene in most of Kunark and all of Velious, the disputes and bickering was pretty rare and weeks or months would usually go by including dozens of kills without a peep between guilds. The forums just made it seem like it happened all of the time. Its like 4-5 idiots from both sides talking shit, and rnf trolls fanning the flames.
