Maybe it was someting to do with the bolt spells. My mage was the last character I put a lot of time into right before I quit. I remember now on my druid putting the camera in third person mode so I could see what I was kiting without having to completely trun around.

I always did this too. Don't think I ever was told to do it, but it definitely felt like it worked.

It is. The game still likes to think you are running when you've stopped. Hell you can even get interrupt by standing up with the forward movement key.

After stopping, immediately turn very slightly (tap left or right arrow key, A or D).
It's enough for the server to record that you've stopped and your spells won't be interrupted. Otherwise you have to wait like a good second until you cast.
