The biggest deterrent to me are the long term side effects. Anabolic steroids are horrible for your body. I would say the majority of anabolic steroid users don’t think about the consequences. And if they do think about it, a lot of them are already balls deep into their professional careers and they’re stuck with a tough choice. For me there’s also a sense of pride in knowing I’ve been able to reach certain goals and look good without steroid use. Just a lot of hard work with diet and training. I don’t judge anyone who does though. Just be very careful and know what you’re doing to your body long term.

He didn't take steroids -- in his era a lot of guys didn't on the professional scene. Now its overrun by guys that are groomed before they are 18 -- which has something to do with getting away with it. Apparently they can detect them usually if you start later.
But there are still plenty of guys that just build muscles without using steroids and take it pretty seriously. A lot of people are jealous of others natural muscular potential. Many people that use steroids BTW -- didn't have to to achieve their gains. They just did it to save a ton of time. It's obvious when people have that roided out muscle look that's not natural -- some of that is impossible without steroids.

I'm telling people: 1) you can get more muscular as a Mesomorph and Endomorph -- and its nice to take advantage of that rather than being fat 2) Building muscle is an important part of keeping weight off for people with bigger bodies. NO you probably won't win any god damn medals in weight lifting fields without steroids. Was this thread Entitiled: "how to get shreadded to compete with the world champions." You have to start thinking about that shit at 16 with good genetics to even think about that -- so what. That's life. Nevertheless, you will lose weight listening to that diet advice. It's not just my opinion. And you will be bigger than smaller guys if your born bigger. But no -- you wont look like Arnold did in the linked picture because he was on steroids. However, that's pretty extreme isn't it? You kind of have to be hanging around a lot of weightlifters to even get it in your head you want to look like that anyway.* But thanks for your contribution skinny guys that have no problems with weight. Arnold did take steroids. BUT -- he still wouldn't have got there if he was born with shit muscle building genetics would he? But id suggest staying smaller and off steroids. *the higher growth in the upper muscles is very common with steroid use. Narrow waist making a kind of v line into massive chest, arms, etc. You can kind of see that with Arnold here

Why do humans have to ruin everything with god damn steroids anyway.
Arnold and his fucking "no regrets" -- well thanks asshole. Thanks for pointing out how awesome it is to use steroids and how there was no lasting effects you regret to everyone. I guess it would have been too much to ask for something along the lines of: "I'm sorry I was sitting there smiling and posing and getting a bunch of credit for an accomplishment I didn't really do." It's not like today. It's not like they are all doing it it his era. It was mostly him -- he was the god damn roid guy. He knows hes doing this shit no one else knows about -- taking the credit. That's completely fucked up. Just like steroids. And there are waaaay more stories about people getting messed up on steroids (or barely using them and backing in time) than people using them to get huge and having a nice little successful life forever. Keep in mind the professionals using steroids these days have whole god damn teams managing them. If you don't have a team -- I don't care what you say -- it's god damn dangerous. It just sucks to know everyone in fighting leagues etc... is fucking on the super human juice and playing stupid. No wonder we have such a dishonest society. Everyone's hiding some kind of illegal advantage. Edit: The reason I was dead wrong about Arnold BTW is because I got mixed up between "Everything in the Arnold and later is all steroids" and thought it was that Arnold was the last era without lots of steroids. It was picking right around the Arnold era -- but it still wasn't as big. This is all academic to me its not like I'm in the sport. It should have been obvious with that picture the more I look though.

Creatine is awesome, but not for what most people use it for. It will not make you stronger and barely swells the muscles to such a small point it is not noticeable. What it does do and does very well is cut down recovery time and reduce muscle soreness. That is if you stay properly hydrated.
