Default New players

Heya, two new players here! Well, I tried project 1999 a few years back on my own and played EQ back in '98, but my girlfriend is properly new. If anyone has any advice on starting out, that would be great!

Also, as we live together we're waiting for an IP exemption having posted in the right forum a couple of days ago - any idea how long they usually take to be approved? We're both really looking forward to starting!

Welcome back the population is pretty good it seems, I always tend to find groups. Plat isn't to hard to aquire at low levels stacks of Bone Chips 20pp or Spider Silks. a little plat at low levels can go a long way on melee classes imo. But alas it's an adventure to be played how you want. You could go the typical duo or try something different and fun. A Wiz or Dru could be good in your duo for the ports but Dial A Port is pretty solid option too. If I had someone to do a committed duo with I think Halfling War/Dru would be fun you get the Stealth on both chars and sneak. Anyhow enjoy the adventure welcome back!

generally a few weeks on IP exemption.

If she's genuinely new the best advice is to allow her to make a class/race combo SHE feels is fun and then make a complimenting class of similar race and starting area so you can play from the start with minimum disruption or travel time. If she doesn't play a class she likes she won't play ... and you won't get to play as much. Resist the temptation to play precisely what you want and then force her to support your choice.

If she rolls a priest, it's a good idea to roll either a melee or pet class that provides good synergy. If she rolls a melee, best to roll a class that can support her. If she rolls an intelligence caster (advise her against wizard) - you have a lot more flexibility.

Don't make her roll a cleric unless she really wants to would be my advice!

Can confirm, lady's choice will provide more playing time in and out of EQ. Let her experiment a bit before the exemption while you cheer-lead. Kill all the decaying skeles, by far the most buck for your time 1-5.
