Secrets of Faydwer really ruined a lot of EQ to me.

They just started spreadsheet style gearing. Focus effects all went in the same slots, mod2s were just arbitrarily thrown onto gear in 2s and 3s rather than having to actually pick your gear to max specific ones. The group gear got to the point where it obsoleted any older raid content. Killing any drive casual raiders had to progress.

I kept playing for the raid content since it stayed entertaining for awhile. Quit before RoF because the race turned into "who can neckbeard, take days off work and raid at 8AM on expansion release" rather than "what guild can devise a strategy to beat the content quickest" like it was in Underfoot/HoT/VoA.

Also why I didn't choose to app to some of the Phinigel guilds which will undoubtably be raiding at 6AM on a Wednesday to claim server first on an expansion release. Stupid race is stupid. But atleast the way they choose to race doesn't impede my ability to enjoy the game the way I wish to enjoy it.

Crystallos was actually one of my favorite zones ever. I had a lot of fun there with the groupable content. I didn't stick around too long after I got a full set of gear from there though.

Phinny isnt bad its just not for me neither is p99 really, EQ is all about competition not about sharing pixels it has always been like that even back in 1999 they didnt have this instance stuff, not trying to be a downer but I dont give a shit either gonna play uthgard in 2 days anyway enjoy your pixels on phinny il be playing the greatest pvp experience any mmo.

There are 6 Esoteric Medallion dropper named giants in the zone, 2 at each of the giant camps.

They drop 3 Medallions each and are 6-hour respawn mobs. Every single player of every raid guild needs 2 Medallions to complete their flagging in PoP. You cannot currently access these mobs in instances.

Training, Kill Stealing, Memblurring/Manaburning, Dispelling mobs is completely allowed on this server.

Competition for these pixels will yield some very salty tears.

I think they do spawn in instances? But that will only yield you 9 keys I think for the entire week. I also don't think they spawn on instance creation. Might be wrong though on entire subject.

Ok I checked and there are 3 raid mobs that spawn in an instance that drop them. Awful

Maybe I'm just too picky and wanted to see PoP again as it was when it was originally released. Someone said they made 80+ AAs in a session the other day.

Well everyone I knew must have sucked because AAs took WAY longer than that to grind out.

Its EQ Lite, I don't really see the nostalgia with so much that's different to the original release.

Taking the amount of time that it used to, to do it now, would put me off. Being able to catch up and maybe experience PoP while it's relevant, even if I start in a week or so, sounds perfect to me.
