Launching EQ Error

So its been about 4 months since I've last played EQ. As I click on the EQ shortcut to play. I get a window that says "patching updater connecting..." then after that it says "connection failed contact SOE".

Am I just missing a patch and I can't launch EQ? or is it something else?
