Font Size/Style Disaster

I had to reinstall this morning and I'm going through the painful process of getting all of my old preferences back.

The one thing that I am having a problem with is the fonts and sizes, not only in chat, but in every imaginable place that font is seen from launching the application to being in game. Server Select, Char Select, In game, its all a shitshow.

I've tried playing around with the font types in the General section of in game preferences, as well as looking through the eqclient.ini file for places where these things can be adjusted. No luck so far [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'm not technically inclined - so please dumb it down. Thanks in advance!

Notice even something like where my own hitpoints are displayed in the top right of the UI, is smaller than it used to be.

try changing your current font (alt + o) to something else and see if it fixes it. Arial is default in most cases.

Any idea how to bold the font? Everything looks different still and I think the issue is just that my old font was bolded.

Update: still a mess. Tahoma is the only thing tolerable and Arial isnt an option. Also would love to bold any of these. Any ideas anybody??

In your UI_charname_p1999.ini file there is a line:
[Fonts]
Font.us.0=Arial

You should be able to use anything in your fonts folder, press windows and in the search box type 'fonts' (no ' ), so you can choose whatever bold font you want to use from there if the options drop down isn't working for whatever reason.

I use whatever display comes with the package to run the game. Nothing added. I have asked tons of people in game over time how to make the font bigger, nothing has ever worked. The only thing I found that helps is change your font to one of the "SYSTEM" type fonts that come included. Try several and see which is best. They are better than Tahoma

It's just strange because the issue isn't just in game, or even chat boxes specifically. It is in the login screen and every other single place that you might see a letter or number from the moment you open EQ. Where it says my username the letters are less bold than they used to be. I don't believe in game font tweeks will change this. There must be another file affecting the entire application where resolution and/or fonts can be set....

has anything else changed on your PC?

this almost looks like an issue with graphics drivers or a corrupt font, but both of those issues would likely affect other programs as well
