Default Top Classes for pvp (red)

So, I'm entertaining the thought of creating a character on the red server. I've been playing p99 (blue) for a year now and enjoying it immensely, this would just be for kicks, initially.

I played 6 years on live on Tallon Zek (later just Zek). I played an enchanter and back then I rolled due to my friends telling me that a chanter was this great group character bla bla all true. I found the chanter to be relatively unrewarding pvp-wise though and I'm just wondering now which class to make?

From my memory druids were absolutely tremendous at pvp due to unresistable dots, dmg shield, heals, snares, nukes... the whole package. From memory, necros, wizzys and sks were also pretty good.

Can someone with recent pvp-experience give me a best guess at the most OP classes for pvp? I'm not talking about group vs group stuff... talking about solo pvp - maybe duo at most.

Wizards are always a good choice for porting around and being able to snipe people, druids too... druids are very OP imo and probably the class that's killed me most.

Anything melee you need some gear to really perform (SK, monk, rogue etc) but once you're armed they're a lot of fun. I love my monk a lot, have hounded people in many places. With some joust practice too you'll do fine. Get a Tstaff eventually and that's GG [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Necros are underrated and underplayed, but it all comes down to where you are.

Can see why an enchanter wouldn't be too rewarding. A lot of MR gear on people and despite tashing you'll struggle to land much. I've had a good time on my enchanter though with charming mobs and letting them do the work.

Whatever you pick, enjoy it... it's a good time [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Casters are generally stronger outdoors than melees. Melees have some advantages indoors with all the LOS issues, although there are plenty of dungeons that have some good spots to snipe people from.

Druids and wizards are pretty strong in pvp, even naked. Bards are good in outdoor settings, and they can usually dictate the terms of the engagement.

One more thing - now that tracking has been improved on druids, finding people is easier than ever. Either to engage them or avoid them if needed.
