Default Waiting for disk to get here..Brand new player to be.

Hello guys and ghouls,

I am just waiting at this point for my titanium to show up. I been playing TLP lately but sick of the total bs eq has turned into there. With mage bot armies etc. So my question to you is(and i have been putting alot of thought into this) is what class does it seem that is lacking alot...I.E. i already read where some guy said NOT to roll a druid because there are a ton of them already.I know its sooooo hard to start fresh in classic EQ so i want to roll a toon that will be a little easier to find groups. I know some will want to post "play what you want to play" and i get that. But i like to play many classes so it wont matter what i choose.....just wanna choose something that is in a shorter supply than lets say 1 thousand druids ;-P...Thanks.

Tanks are definitely in short supply from what I've seen for months now. At least below lvl 30. This will probably change when the hybrid XP penalty is removed, don't think that's happened yet. Clerics are around to some extent... but that's still probably another good choice. I wouldn't recommend warrior or rogue when you're starting out, since they're the most gear dependent classes in the game. Monk is gear dependent but their gear is usually cheaper and easier to get, so they can be a good choice. All casters seem relatively common on the server but that's probably because you don't need gear or money (outside of spell costs) to level them and I do see a lot of casters leveling naked or in their starter robe.

The thing is though... tanks and most melee classes are more gear dependent... and unless you're good at getting people to give you stuff for free, you're going to need a character like a druid to get you some money so you can actually buy gear for gear dependent classes and transport that gear around to your other characters since there's no instant travel besides ports and no shared banking. This is a big reason why everyone has a druid, because they're very useful. Especially if you don't know anyone on the server.

Of course, you can always play a tank in banded armor with a fine steel weapon and get by well enough, at least early on... really depends on how important gear is to you and the groups you're in though. There is a lot of twinking on this server though so... be prepared to find yourself in groups with people who have much, much better gear than you. Also depends on your goals, whether you just want to revisit classic EQ again for a few weeks or whether you want to get to end game content.

By the way.... you can make decent money in Crushbone selling CB belts and pads to players. Belts go for at least 3p and pads for 5p. Don't let people talk you into selling them for less. So, Gfay and Crushbone are one of the best places to start if you want to make some money while you level.

On Red, clerics are like unicorns and I don't see too many tanks. It's hard for me to understand why people would tell you not to make a druid given that this is your first character here being that they can do so much, are cheap to equip and being able to charm without needing charisma at all. Overpowered. Port bot for plat (I see people advertise hundreds of plat for ports all night). In the end, play what sounds fun. If you get bored/frustrated alt.

EVERYONE on here started with Nothing. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Quit doing this, ohh you need a ton of stuff to be a Warrior, Melee crap. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

If YOU want to be a Warrior be one, a SK, A Pally, A Ranger, etc., etc., etc., be one. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

You are the one playing it, not Bob, Mary, or Me. It is a Long journey, not some, I am going to be level 20 in one day stuff. Lucky to be that in a month if you have a real life. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

And that is what makes this server great. It IS hard, it IS not easy, It Does take gear to be good, great. And that is what drives you on here to do better. "Put In the Time" as they say.

If you want to go slow, go slow, if you want to be a Raiding fool, be a "Raiding Fool". [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

It is your choice, not ours. Go for it. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Gratz on getting a copy of Titanium and getting in the game. I have had pretty good luck grouping with my warrior in Guk and if I am persistent with my druid and ooc lfg in several zones I can usually find a group or player willing to join. Hope this helps.

Sort of sounds like a angry as hell post. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Not a GOOD way to start.[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Maybe you ought to keep YOUR mouth shut and ask Nicely for help from others on here, and not be such a Jackass to start with. We all need help on here at times even if you have been playing 6 years here. Don't blow it, you will regret it. There is a Ignore setting on here, and trust me a lot of people use it.
