![]() Last I heard, this was being planned. Any known ETA?
Having this feature would possibly allow a lot of third party services to use the forum to authenticate character ownership. (if they allow you to see character names, because why else have it?) Currently, for example, Magelo is completely insecure (you can create a profile for anyone and then only you can edit it) since it has no way to verify character ownership.

![]() This already happened if you linked your login to your forum account or if you are a new registrant.

![]() They're already linked. Can't get a login server account without having a forum account. Magelo profiles are for wiki users, unless you're referring to the actual Magelo?

![]() Ah, I didn't even notice the change over. Though how can it be used to verify that you are the owner of a character on red/blue? (or can it not? as it seems)
Sorn, I mean the wiki version of Magelo. It basically just trusts that you own the character and then gives edit permission to just you.

I haven't heard of any malicious wiki magelo name hijacks. Wiki uses a separate login anyway.

![]() Ele, the issue is that I'm working on a web-based LFG tool and have no way to verify the identity of those claiming to be character JohnDoe, etc.
Magelo is less of a target because its kind of obscure, but if the LFG tool became as popular as ahungry/eqauctions, I could see some abuse starting. I could run a client and parse the logs to a character where users do something like "/tell lfgbot pin 74812" but then I basically need to pay 4-5 times more for a server that can run a 3D application in addition to the otherwise simple php app + mysql.
