For all of you trying to make money from the plank spawn keep in mind it doesn't get nerfed for more then 8 months.

IMO remove ALL the existing planking (99% or close to 100% have been obviously picked up by cheaters who bee-lined to the spawns. The first link in /ooc on red has been seen MINUTES after ports to Velious opened during the GM event.)

Remove all existing planking and make it somewhat hard to get. Make it a super rare drop off cougars or something like that. Ground spawns, albeit classic, are trivially exploited by cheaters. Make it classic by making them hard to obtain.

I'm not aware of any suggestion that people were actually using external programs to get planks. Some of us got planks by laboriously searching Iceclad for hours, some of us got lucky and found em fast (some aided by previous hours searching in IC for the past month of beta before Vel launch), and some noticed a broken spawning mechanic and gathered planks on alts.

As someone who spent over 8 hours searching for planking in the first 24 hours of Velious before I found mine I'd rather not have my BFG removed because someone is bitter about a few specific folks noticing a broken mechanic and hoarding planks.

EDIT: Also to add... the icebergs the boat moves past have been known spawn spots, so somebody getting them very quickly after ports opened isn't that absurd considering there would be nobody else clearing them beforehand.

So here's a new rumor that I was just told...

Apparently, they can definitely spawn anywhere in the zone, "As intended".

Someone just told me there's 8 random spawns on an 8 hour spawn time.


Can anyone confirm either of these? Are there 8 different planks that can spawn? Is there actually an 8 hour spawn time?


I think it would be nice if a GM would step up and tell us whether or not it's been removed.

You do realize they have systems in place to prevent this or basically insta-alert them if its going on, yea? IF there were people doing this, im sure they have felt the banhammer and planks deleted already.

i didn't cheat, spent 5 hours looknig for planks the very first day and because of this i got greatly rewarded.
