Fellow druids, lets talk about our bear pet.

Any uses for it besides cosmetic? Does it actually put out any dps?

I could see it coming in handy when youre medding and a green mob aggros you. Wouldn't have to waste mana killing it. Other than that, it's more likely you'll have charmed pets when grouping/raiding.

Pulling is its only real use.

It has so few hitpoints that the mob would have to be really low level for it not to get smoked extremely fast. You could basically use it to hold the mob for 1 round while you cast a spell or flee.

You could use it as a small dot if there's a tank present and tanking, but frankly its so little damage that it's not worth it.

Four uses, in order of importance:

1. Pet Pulling. If a mob is located behind a door with lots of other mobs, you can send him in to get eaten and keep yourself safe. Also pulling from behind locked doors (I'm looking at you black reavers), via /pet attack a_black_reaver

2. Mana Pool Extension. Quest a Reclaim Energy clicky from Temple Sol Ro, this acts as an extra 600 mana in reserve if you are able to keep him alive during a raid or group to reclaim him as needed.

3. Low Level Farming. Extra DPS, think of him like a damage shield or a proc.

4. Looking like a boss in EC. Cause science.


#2 is often overlooked and #1 is often under valued. As far as DPS on a raid goes, he is terrible even against mobs with no AEs.
