I actually liked Velious. The first time when my group was hunting giants in Kael and another guild came to kill the Avatar of War, and some friends in the guild kept running over for a heal. And when I turned to look at the raid the whole system would slow down to a crawl and everything looked like a fight in slow motion, just made it seem more epic.

deleted char and started human rogue. got to lvl14 and started finding gems on mobs - oh, these are for jewelcrafting eh? i'll have to make an enc mule now
enchanter was my only char until LoY; still the most fun class in any RPG i've played
quit during LoY and started playing WoW

I agree. This project should stop at PoP, and prohibit the Knowledge Books, Bazaar and Nexus. That would be the perfect game IMHO.

What if, PoK books worked, and Nexus worked.

But PoK books were 1-way from PoK (requiring a Druid/wizard port up to PoK), allowing people to just get a port to PoK then they can make their way to the zone they wish.

But Nexus spires were 1-way from Nexus (requiring a Druid/Wizard port up to Nexus)

Bazaar I don't really get the hate for, I loved it but I could live without it if it meant we could get Luclin/PoP.

OoW is when I quit. I was beginning high school when that expansion came out. That new final fantasy mmo came out around then and I was trying that out for a few months and eventually went to the vanilla wow. Since most of my RL friends started playing wow and I was alone in eq, I joined the band wagon (With no regrets seeing how shitty eq was becoming).

For me it's go hard or go home. Wiz/Druid Ports both ways. The Nexus/PoK books are what totally made a class defining role obsolete.

What I didn't like about the Bazaar is that most people loaded up all their wares on their avatar, then went to bed. If I saw an item I wanted to bargain or trade for, I could not, because the seller was not at the keys. Now if they implemented the bazaar but enforced an "at the keys rule," I would be more open to the idea.


So as not to derail the thread, I stopped playing after LDoN. By that time, the game became "WoW Assimilated," and instancing only added to the horror, leaving the EQ I knew as a shell of it's former glory.

I quit when OoW was released. I was just starting to key/attune/whatever its called for GoD, so what was the point in purchasing the OoW expansion?

PoK books? yes, they're pretty stupid.

Nexus spires? WTF no, get a grip. Nexus spires are like boats, long waits and only one location per continent so long runs to get to and from the spires. The only port "customers" lost to Nexus spires were the ones who couldn't afford to tip or who would run and ride a boat anyway because they were too goddamn tight to tip, i.e. none. I am continuously boggled by people who insist Nexus ports had any real impact on the importance of port classes. "Oh noes, somebody can get from here to there in only 45 minutes without being extorted by Joe Illmannereddruid. Oh the horror! Oh the humanity!" Gimme a break.

Agreed with Kaev on Nexus Spires. People ask for ports from OT to South Ro all the time so they can take the Oasis boat to TD, because the Oasis boat comes 3 times as often as the OT boat.

PoK books, if they are one way out of PoK, and the only way to get to PoK is a port... Then you have to get a port in order to click a book...

I speak as a long time Druid, PoK books were a god send. I didn't have to waste my time making other people's play time more streamlined. I could play the class I liked playing without such interruptions just as basically every other class could except clerics... Poor clerics. They didn't get released from those shackles until Mercenaries.

But I would be more than happy to allow PoK books to only be one-way portals if it means PoP is put in. Removing them entirely destroys the lore of the plane. All races were united in a quest for knowledge and to understand the gods' realms and the gods themselves.
