for any of you using PVE or battlegrounds as a barometer for how a class will do in PVP. prepare yourself for a big surprise. PVP wont be anything comparable to what you did in PVE or BG so theres no point in testing those for a comparison to what PVP will end up being.

From what I remember of open world PVP its a lot of someone getting the jump and the other person running away.

troub is a hard class to learn well in pvp. Dirge is even harder and at times can be considered the worst pvp class untill RoK comes out.
Dirge was actually my first choice until I read similar reviews. I figured being new I could help my group by at least having great buffs/support but people keep saying they suck.

It sounds like for the most part utility/cc takes a back seat to defensive/heal/dps.

Those no point in talking to schnarf about this. It is obvious in his replies he never played EQ2 for more than a month if that.

I look forward to seeing scouts taunted by pets then feared/rooted then stunned then re snared then taunted again and dieing. Scouts are squishy as hell and if they get CCed they are dead without in combat evac as an option.

summoner pets are alot shittier now. given a scout always has the advantage when it comes to engagement. A swash/brig is going to eat any caster alive with constant interrupts from daring advance, Taunts to force back from pet taunts. Basically if a summoner cant lock down and kill a scout on the first try, the scout can win.

Summoners are ideal in a group setting. Very few can hack it solo. I think I have personally every met 3 good summoners on naggy

also, I am pretty sure scouts will still get to evac. They just cant evac 4 times in a row like they used to be able to (evac, diety evac, item evac, prestige housing) So its back to evac 1 time per class every 30 minutes or something with them.

dirge has really mediocre CC ( fear and snare), damage is slightly higher than Troub. The best thing about dirge is the melee group proc they get and combat rez.

Troubs get charm, mez, snare, great debuffs. Later expansions aside from warden they are the fastest moving class in the game, and the spell/CA range is the longest out of any class for an expansion i think. ( once you get class AAs)

What will be the major difference? I only played EQ2 later in its development, and rarely found open world PvP on Nagafen. But if I found an opponent that didn't have a flying mount or a merc, it was usually fun and not that much different from a solo engagement in a BG.

Because of toughness and lethality, damage, heals, mitigation, and resists are different on BGs compared to live. Since there is such a stat bloat that developers are used to working with, there does seem to be more of a balance at end tier pvp. If you ever played a lower level BG match the difference becomes more apparent. Also PVE procs dont work in BGs, and they are supposed to work on PVP servers now like they used to at launch, which will add another dimension to PVP as well. I also think cc immunity is different on BGs than it is/was on pvp. IIRC I think cc immunity is shorter on pvp. How it ends up remains to be seen, but I am sure it will be very much unlike BG or current PVP. Another thing that might have to change is fighters having % based heals which could be a game changer in low tier pvp too.
