Pras to the volunteer staff. Last time I checked it was $15 per month for me to play my previous addicting MMORPG before I came back to EQ and found P99. Been on the server roughly two years, and while it's not a huge sum of money, I haven't spent $360ish in subscription fees over the last two years. Everyone understands why the ass thread no longer exists, and making changes under the Daybreak tinfoil conspiracy is fine if it's looking like it'll break their terms of service.

Moving gif/cat pic threads and other stuff though? Nothing to do with Daybreak. It's overmoderation for its own sake. We've had years of good times in here. I still support the staff but I'm asking nicely not to go to this level on the forums.

One of the key indicators of a healthy community is the forums - Epicemu is one I like to bring up. They didn't do forums at all well. They navigated badly, and people who posted up complaints had them instantly deleted...so there was no dialogue between staff and players. Result? Nobody posted up things that were wrong or needed fixing anymore or felt like the forums were a place they wanted to visit.

P99 has a great community, lets not shit up the forums with moderation on stuff that Daybreak isn't going to give a toss about [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I don't really disagree with what you're saying. Most of the time people aren't able to intelligently engage in discourse about these things, so after viewing many threads with the exact same posts in them all about moderation...I just wanted to break it down into what we pay for and what we get [You must be logged in to view images. But now Rogean has a girlfriend named Daybreak, and she has a special needs kid named EQLive, so Rogean says "hey man, you can still stay here rent free, but you have to turn down the volume on your porn." Rogean is so serious he even hires a babysitter named Sikorsky, who comes and smashes your porn DVDs every time he hears you playing one too loud.

You could ....

A) bitch about the conspiracy/unfairness of the situation
B) buy a new porn DVD every time Sirkorsky smashes one
C) listen to your porn at a reasonable volume

Project 1999 needs a (real) RnF forum. It's part of the DNA of this community. But our friend has a girlfriend now, so we can't have that forum here. Someone has to step up and create a new RnF forum that's hosted anywhere but project1999.com. It's the only solution.

TLDR: RnF on project1999.com is dead. Long live the Project 1999 RnF forum.

Just to let you know, you obviously don't understand EQ. People like EQ because of the drama, the challenge and all the other shit that goes along with it. Do you hate the drama, or do you hate being caught up in the drama? Do you find no entertainment in watching others make tempests in their little teapots, while you observe with detachment safe in your group of friends? I find that, just like RL, EQ gets pretty boring without drama.
