![]() Is there any low level suggestions on getting started as far as gear? I went ahead and bought from a vendor a full cloth set for enchanter.
But like a goal or zone I should work towards and then camp? Granted I am only level 4 as of last night, but seeing how long it's been since I've played EQ this way , looking for any advice other than begging. I like to try to make my own way if possible, but a little direction helps [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Thank you.

![]() To make it your own way level up a bit and hit befallen, Damask armor would be the next step up from cloth. I'm waiting to be around 10-12 to hit there.

![]() Depends on what you would like to work towards.
You could go to EC and see if someone would help a newbie (don't be pushy, don't ask many times, maybe just do an /ooc and see if anyone would be willing to help a new player...the community is pretty helpful in general just don't be too aggressive). if you want to earn it all yourself, upper guk has some good caster gear. Good cheap gear would be player made jewelcrafted gear. I'm sure others have better suggestions than I though [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

Once I level up beyond Crushbone I suppose I'll make my way to Befallen, and since that is on the way to EC anyway, guess it won't hurt to ask... but otherwise the point of playing Project 1999 is to play from the ground up ... it's supposed to be a challenge for each step of the way :P Then of course Upper Guk! Thanks again !

![]() I have the same mindset and am in the same position i.e. set a series of goals to work towards, and do not accept handouts (besides buffs and the odd bind - thanks Sarena [You must be logged in to view images. Buying a full set of Cloth Armour helps, although you can also obtain - albeit slowly - from mobs (Decaying Skeletons seem to drop Cloth, plus Rusty Weapons). Some early goals:
Start looking ahead at your next set of spells and start to save. Loot and vendor most items, saving bone chip / bat wing stacks, various LQ / MQ / HQ pelts for players, and you should be on the way to self-sufficiency. The odd Cracked Staff drop brings in just over 1 plat. You also have Crushbone / Deathfist Belts, Derv Rings, Bandit Sashes, not to mention GL (Greater Lightstones - requires Magic Weapon to kill Wisps) for additional options to make plat. There are various lowbie quests that you could fulfil, dependent on faction. In terms of levelling, depends on race [faction hits]. I actually prefer the out of left field options such as finding a lowbie group (6th/7th level) and heading to Southern Ro. Lots of roaming mobs to pull by the Oasis zone line, and there are plenty of Orc camps as you get higher - without the perma camps present in EC. The flip side is that it is a longer and potentially dangerous CR (Corpse Run) - unless you can bind yourself in either FP or Grobb. First time I played, I suffered (and still do) from Wanderlust - my Chanter could be found in various zones around Antonica. I absolutely loved running across the Karanas from FP to Qeynos (Invis at level 4 helps). At present, my Chanter has relocated from Nektulos to Innothule. Not only am I pleased to be surrounded by Troll brethren, but I'm rapidly improve my swimming, and can decimate my Froglok faction (ha!) looting Woven. Upper Guk and Southern Ro are but a zone away .. Whatever way you choose to play, enjoy yourself [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Cheers!

![]() Thank you very much for the insight [You must be logged in to view images. ![]() If you are in GFay area, around level 12 you can (if it's open) hit the Nybright camp in LFay. Three or four bandit camp that drop bronze weapons. And there is a merchant not far from the camp, so you can wrack up a lot of PP. I think I stayed there until 16 and banked up a little nest egg.

![]() I know if you are new you want to get gear. But some classes like a Mage and a Necro, Wizard really don't need any gear. You get a free robe form the Guildmaster if you turn the scroll into the right one. Even a enchanter only needs some charisma items and you SHOULD have put a lot into that stat at the start. They need 200ish to be able to help with Charm lasting a longer time.
Melees can do the turn in for CB belts in Keth and get free Leather Armor. Melees NEED a good weapon. The starting weapon you get is damn weak. [You must be logged in to view images. It is time consuming true, but it is a lot of satisfaction knowing you made your own Armor and got some Free spells and worked to get some good items by working for them not just being given them. A lot depends how much time YOU have to play the game and can dedicate to doing Trades skills, quests. The game is supposed to be fun. Not a race to the top, which by the way can get boring being at the top. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] GL.
