Hello guys! I am starting a Rogue and have a question about weapon choices.

I currently have a Trak tooth (10/20) and a 9/24 offhand which will be replaced. I can probably afford as much as a locustlure... My question is this, should I use 8/17 in main hand and 10/20 in offhand for damage bonus, or 10/20 in main hand for Backstab dmg? Also, if I am using 10/20 main hand, is there a comparable offhand similar to locustlure for around the same price? I think Jade Mace is a bit out of my price range...

Thanks Samoht. I can't afford the tooof just yet but I will keep a look out for it. It seems that or the crystalline spear is a nice stepping stone to our epic.

My Rogue is just 16 ATM so not worried too much about the proc. I guess damage bonus is so low at this point that a fast primary isn't much of a concern either. I'll use my trak tooth in my main hand and lookout for a decent offhand, then get a 13 dmg main when I can afford it. Thanks again.

Keep the Trak tooth and shoot for a CSS for offhand. Camping Fishbone Earring would be a pretty easy way to get that. If you don't have the time to camp that, not always a very easy camp to find open and doesn't always drop, you can start working on your epic. You would need the help of a higher level Rogue to spawn Stanos for you but you just need to ask if they would help you if you saw them in the area. If I was close, I've helped plenty of Rogues before I was KoS to him. You can easily work up to the part where you need to kill Renux before needing the help of a 55+ druid friend to help kill her.

Thanks Evil! I sold some of my bard's gear so now I have Trak Tooth, CSS, and Crystalline Spear. I'm using Trak tooth and CSS and will swap spear for BS if I really want to squeak in more damage [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I am officially making swiss cheese out of these mobs!

Pretty much answered, but in case anyone else is looking.

Primary: You want the high damage piercers (Rapier of Oriin is best if you don't have your epic) Secondary: You want the best ratio possible, so 10/20, 9/18 etc (Edge of the Nightwalker at 14/25 is the best attainable one outside of VP)

I'd stick with trak tooth / css until epic. I never thought rapier was worthwhile for the expense and length of time I used it, lesser offhand than CSS post epic too.

Weapon swapping for backstabs probably will overall hurt your damage btw. But rogues don't have a whole lot of buttons to push, why I push other people's. So go ahead and do it if you want. After you get your epic, your offhand upgrade path is: CSS to Seb Dirk or Edge of the Nightwalker (go for dirk) to VP weapons. Save for a dirk, it's the same thing as an edge, but handles worse on damage shields. Much much much much cheaper and rogues are usually poor.
