I think GM events are a great way for integration between the staff and the players. Who cares about the loot? It's supposed to be fun. The events are rare and there for a reason. Don't rain on theirs and other people's parades, plz.
edit: This is in regards to people QQing about loot, obviously.

Yeah i didnt even get loot and i thought it was great fun!
Guess the WoW mindset came to this server. OMG I GOT MINE TEH HARDZ WAY AND NOW YOU ARE GIVING IT AWAY... If someone else having the same loot as you, regardless of how they got it annoys you, pisses you off, or in any way detracts from your enjoyment of the game you have issues... OMG...he... has the same pixels as me... this is blasphemy!!!! Again, thanks to the Project 1999 staff for a great event!

Ya know what though, i'm probably not going to do the Ragebringer quest because it's just a "pixel" upgrade over my current weapon. Itt: mad bros, and nonfactors. Also, just a quick example of why people are upset - I/We spent about 3 hours last night getting a raid done, ideally itemwise I was hoping for a VB or Pants upgrade from the mob. While we did this, LR was dropping/per kill and it has better stats than the raid loot I was hoping to have a shot at getting (and better stats than any item that will ever be on this server for those slots/my class). Am I mad brew? No. Can you be a real person and conceptualize an alternate perspective? You tell me. Rogean and Uthgaard do this for free, so long story short hit the donate button and thank those guys for bothering to take time out of their holiday to do this for us. It's not our responsibility as players to agree with their decisions, however it is anyones right to post their opinion without getting flamed by tweens.

It is true that for certain classes the lustrus russet is better then anything they will ever have access to... however is that really that big of a deal?
IMO its not. However your millage may vary. Is it going to keep you from getting a raid spot cause you dont have it? Doubtful Guild spot: also doubtfull Group spot: probly not So all that happens is some people have a few slots they will NEVER replace. Also a few people that had LR dont feel as cool standing in EC tunnel.

Neither of us are right man, but I am the exact opposite. Also, don't forget that Everquest, not unlike American football, are games of inches. At the end of the day the difference between my DPS and Otto's (fanged skull stilletto, 41% haste) is negligible, as is the difference from RBB to CoF etc. But you know what? That's the game we play, small upgrades at the cost of our sanity and time. Quote:

Personally I had a bunch of fun. Went LD a few times, a random death, but the mad running around the zone killing werewolves was fun. So some people got a few nice drops. Maybe they were a bit too good, but I'd rather Rogean and co. put in the time and effort to do something like this for us and mess it up slightly than not try at all. Nothing is perfect. And obviously, they aren't going to take LR/cryo drops back, so no point in complaining.
One suggestion for the future: I liked that there seemed to be 3/4 levels of werewolves, i.e. the 50's, the 35's, and whatever else. If it would be possible I think a max level to engage each mob would be awesome. I.e. max 40 to kill the 35, max 30 to kill the 25. This would allow some of the lower players to get in on the action instead of having it dominated by guilds with tons of 50's running around killing everything. Perhaps this would also help with the ninjalooting, which btw was super fucking lame and reflects rather badly on whoever would do that. Ok so a ton of pieces were /ooc'ed as rotting, with locs, which shows awesome community spirit. Go for that. Or, a random corpse with no one around, go for it. A corpse with a group of guild people standing around waiting for the timer to expire so a guildmember can loot a piece, while you spam right-click? That deserves the piece being deleted and a week ban, let's be honest. I tried to find it in the p99 rules but couldn't, perhaps this should be added? From the EQ Play Nice Policy: Quote:

While I agree with the prospect of finding ways to stave off ninja looting, I think the GMs were busy enough and couldn't watch 40 different fights in zone to make sure that no ninja looting happened. In the end, it was a quickly executed surprise for everyone, something that while frustrating, was enjoyable!
Good job, Uthgaard and Rogean! I wish we could've taken down Lycanthropy Bob but I suppose the zone just about had enough at that point.. ha.

I'm more jealous about missing out on seeing the hilarity and chaos of seeing 300+ people in EC than having missed any uber loot.

There were plenty of people I saw get more than 2 pieces of LR. I saw at least 3 people with 4+.
That's pretty ridiculous, considering how much I saw in my own camp unlootable from lag and/or scavenger ninjas, and the fact that 30 or so people who weren't lagging got like everything. Oh thanks, all the work I have put in on my char and now a level 40 warrior outgears me...really fun stuff lemme tell ya.
