I believe you do need to register an account.

It's quick, free, and they don't spam your e-mail. If you're someone who needs WinEQ2 (and it has a ton of extra features - not just a windowed mode application, it will set affinity, help with screen blackouts, etc), its definitely worth the ~30 seconds it takes to enter a username and password then confirm with the link sent to your e-mail.

^ one of two things:

1) If you get to character select and all your characters are gone and there is a "spells file out of date" message, double check you pointed wineq2 to the correct .exe file. Also make sure that eq didn't accidentally patch to live somehow

or

2) This will sound silly, but it really does happen all the time. Make sure you select the correct server from the server list.

There's no reason why wineq2 would make it so your characters don't show up on character select, so long as everything else is working properly. If you're really having trouble I'd recommend re-installing titanium (NOT in program files! use C:\everquest or something similar!) then downloading the project 1999 patch and extracting it to your eq folder once more.

Set up a proper eqgame.exe shortcut (with patchme at the end of the target path), point wineq2 to it and go!

When I get to the character select it does seem like it would be a spell files out of date but it just doesn't show my characters ... I checked and re checked ... it's pointed to B:\Programs\Everquest and it uses the eqgame.exe. the thing that I don't understand is that the last patch for p99 gave me a launch everquest patchme file ... now this file is a bat file and it opens EQ all on its own I don't need to change the eqgame.exe with the patchme it does it for me. I am wondering if this may be the problem. Because if I use my shortcut of this file I can log on just fine no problems at all and my characters are there but then I try to use WinEQ2 and I have no characters.

When I get home I will see if I can add patchme to the end of the eqgame.exe (as I said the latest p99 patch there was a file that came with it so you no longer had to) and I will see if this works
