Maybe I tried when the centaur run speed was all jacked, but i think they're like OT rhinos and have a faster speed than other mobs like aviaks, which cuts down hugely on number of mobs you can do per pull.

Those of you suggesting Centaurs, how recently did you do that?

Cause last time I tried a week or two back, the centaur hitbox was too large to kite around. Maybe I didn't spend enough time messing with it, but I thought their hitbox or Runspeed was making them impossible to kite.
Probably a year ago, year and a half.

They didn't when I used to kite SK, but it's been a while.

I'm making very good progress on my bard (currently lvl 22), and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to kite at for the level range of 25-30. I know I can stay in OT until 25, but I've been trying to find out where to go after that. This guide suggests WW for 26-28, but also states that it is all low blue mobs. http://wiki.project1999.com/Deajay%2...Location_Guide
From 28-30 it suggests FV. But I'm not super comfortable with that suggestion since I know that there are an abundance of caster mobs in that zone.
Any suggestions on alternatives for this lvl range would be much appreciated.
I left the OT at 25 and spent levels 25-30 almost exclusively in LOIO. Scout around the area from the windmill up to sarnak fort and around the lake perimeter in this area. My bread and butter were undead skeletons, iksar bandits, and sabertooth cats. I didn't every bother with sarnaks (wanderers or static) or the goblins on the off chance that I would end up getting a goblin shaman in my kite. The sarnaks only asssit each other but they are kos to the goblins. If you get a goblin attacking a sarnak it's a huge PITA. These kites were smaller in size than in OT, but they were reliable and during off hours you can still get a good 15-25 (more if you run around a lot) sized pull that will reliably get you through these awkward levels. The only really annoying part of these kites were the sabercats. Unlike the cats in OT, the LOIO cats do not assist each other. As soon as any cat reaches 20% it will start running. If I pulled 7 cats, 10 skeletons, and 5 iksars ... I'd have to spend some time once the cats hit 20% interrupting my kite and making sure I was running over them to land another dot or 2 so they would keel over. This meant steady dps from 100 to 20% health of my kite followed by a few minutes of derailment finishing off running kitties before I could drop the rest of the iksars and skeletons.

I just moved back to OT at 30 and i'll be honest - at this level it's painful with the amount of resists I'm getting. I just hit 31 tonight and it got a little bit better. I actually expect that leveling from 32-33 on upward will be significantly easier for this reason - the resists.

The XP in LOIO is good. It is comparable to south karana per kill - but there are a lot more mobs available during normal play hours. If you have a few people in the KFC/splitpaw area - it's hard to round up a good sized pull without making people angry. I tend to gravitate towards area where my play will have zero impact on others hunting the area. LOIO was perfect for this. The only time I found myself pulling mobs others were interested was when I found another bard who had the same bright idea as me [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

... As an aside I will say that after taking the time to learn how to kite efficiently, it was depressing to try and group. I got in a nice HHK goblin group (nice zone xp mod) and the xp was abysmal by comparison.

You can kite centaurs. I've done it recently, but they run noticably faster than aviaks/gnolls. If you get centaurs in your kite you basically end up having to kite all the centaurs - wait for them to die, then kite down all the non centaurs. If you take the SK route I'd save yourself the headache and either avoid the centaurs or just focus on a pull of only centaurs followed by a pull of all the other stuff. You COULD pull them all at once, but if you're the only one in the zone you're bound to annoy some people - it'll take you twice as long to kill it all, and while they're chasing YOU - nobody else can hunt them nor will they be respawning for the rest of the zone to xp on.

I prefer to bite off precisely not only what I CAN chew ... but what I can efficiently chew. If that means two smaller pulls that takes me a bit longer - c'est la vie. It's less disruptive on the community.

Just tried them tonight. They do run a little faster and you cannot Strafe Kite them. Well not without getting hit that is.

You can strafe kite them if you have sow or you twist in selos - I've done it many times recently.

OT has gotten much easier after level 35 - far fewer resists makes the kites go much faster/smoother.

It has been a LONG time since I played, but I remember doing Fear/Snare soloing at the Mountain Giant fort in Frontier Mountains somewhere near that level.
