This is what I don't get. Why do people go through 2 years of leveling and gearing up, have success for 2 weeks and then just quit. Why wouldn't they just keep logging in and winning? If they hate EQ that much why did they put in so much time and effort to hit 60 and gear up? Did they just like the PvE?
I'm not trying to say they quit because they were losing but what a big let down. The server was a lot better for that very very brief period where big guild vs guild was happening.

No you have it completely backwards, we hated the pve. Otherwise we would have kept logging in for uncontested pixels. Fact of the matter is there was no pvp on the server, so what reason is there for us to log in?
Skirmish pvp on that server is non existent due to a) lack of targets, b) fear of YT and sitting near zone lines, c) huge server, small population. Outside of respawn days finding people to kill who aren't going to instantly gate as soon as you enter the zone or plug as soon as you find them is near impossible.
Point in fact, red99 is only red for 1 day a week, and 50v50 pvp in those zones with the current gear level is not fun.
The project99 staff shot themselves in the foot by not allowing boxing, could easily have at least 600 pop on the red server during prime time if it was allowed. Would make pvp much easier to find and non-respawn days somewhat bearable.
