Default Evade questions

I am asking this because I used to play a rogue as a main back in the day. Started with many alts in pre-kunark until I found the rogue to be my love in EQ.
I am level 19 with my Hide skill being maxed at 100. It seems like 95% of the time my Evade is failing and I do not remember it being this way in Live.
I thought it was if your Hide, when activated, was good, you evaded combat. As it stands right now, it is failing all over the place.
This is in groups and auto-attack is off and I am not moving. I am waiting until right after a mob hits me so that I am not being nudged when trying to activate it. The game just tells me that your attempt to evade out of combat failed.

I am still somewhat new to p99 and my 19 Rogue is my main character.

Easiest way to answer is, turn off auto attack, hit hide and you either evade or you don't.

Don't want or wish to sound like an ass but I can't think of another way to word this..
Not sure why you posted since you did not add anything to what I was asking about.
I know how the mechanic works, I am more wanting to know if anyone has noticed this happening and at what level it going to start to work more often.
On live it worked pretty much all the time.

No, as I stated above "This is in groups and auto-attack is off and I am not moving. I am waiting until right after a mob hits me so that I am not being nudged when trying to activate it."
Like I said, I am not new to being a Rogue as I played one on Live, its been a long time but I did play allot at the time. I just figured that once Hide no longer really ever fails that Evade would be working more often. Maybe once I reach 20 it will change.

I think its just due to lower level/skill. It'll work more reliably as you get higher. It is annoying when it fails a lot but at skill 100 I'd imagine it'll fail about 50% or more. Even at higher levels it'll fail here and there and you just got attack off and hope the tank pulls it back.

edit: also evade success is much lower than just hide success, it factors something else in there or maybe just naturally lower.

Why are you waiting to use evade until the mob starts hitting you?

That's what i was thinking but figured since he was lower level he would rip agro quicker depending on makeup of tank in group. Since he said he's played a rogue before i would hope he knows when he gets bigger to evade before a mob turns on you [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

When I am duoing with a friend, he is normally playing a Shaman or a Bard and to be honest, I can tank better than he can. I start the fight out with backstab, then he moves in and starts to attack. I then wait for a bit to let him hit the mob for a bit and I will try to evade so I can immediately get a backstab in on the fight. Normally the mob is around 15% at this point and he is going to start walking anyway. I haven't had much of a chance to get into large groups except for the other night. I was in a croc party in Oasis and we had a good tank and he could keep aggro but even then when I was just trying to lower my aggro rating it would still tell me that Evade has failed even though the mob was not attacking me at the time.
My friends Bard and Shaman are 1 level below me and with my Defense I can sustain damage better than he can at our currently level but I still wanted the mob to turn around for a backstab in a fight.
