The idea of jesus and the holy trinity dates back thousands of years before Catholicism/Christianity ever existed. Its a ripped off idea from previous religions in which the son of"god" is personified by the sun or something like that.
Bible ain't much but a good story, pretty much the same goes for all religious texts. However, that doesn't mean that some of these stories were not based on fact or historical events.
The earth, if anything, should be worshipped as a deity.
