Some of the wiki prices are from 2012 etc, don't use it as a guide especially at the moment - prices generally dropping.

I always use the wiki or my site (Ahungry) to get a baseline on an item - seems reliable enough in 99% of the cases.

Your site has always been my favorite resource to find items and prices. Thank you for it. And it's been awhile! Hi Xenow [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Don't buy from those "make an offer" assholes. If someone is selling an item, he should know what he wants to get from it. If you don't agree to his price then you can counteroffer.

Any seller who tells you to make an offer already knows what he wants to sell it for. He's checking to see if you offer above what he has in mind, and if you offer lower than what he has in mind he'll just tell you that's not good enough. Don't feed into that bullshit.

Usually they won't respond with anything when you offer and its not enough, people hate to negotiate here its a real pain.

Right. I tend to take my time when shopping. Your items is totally worth 3k to me, but I'm going to offer you 2.5k. If the response is "no" I'm not going to bother. Your response is 2.9k, I'll counter 2.8k. People can be pissy some time, but I'm simply negotiating. I understand some won't negotiate reasonably I.e. a few ECQuesters, but that's just the game they play.

Is there anything in place to prevent a group of people from manipulating the prices listed on the wiki for auctions? Why don't people just sell items to friends at crazy high prices and trade back afterwards. Then sell the same items to non friends at crazy high prices?

Edit: excluding non friends with common sense.

Because people are afraid of confrontation these days days, it flows over from real life into EQ box.

I hate when I offer on an item and get no response at all - you'd think at least a "no thanks" could be sent.

I do occasionally say, "Whatever you think is fair" for any item under 500pp or so, and I'll almost always accept the offer - I've sold 300pp robes for 50pp before, on the other hand, I once had someone give me about double the average price for something in that way as well.

If its an expensive thing I'm selling, I just tell them what I'm looking for if I didn't list in /auc.
