For the past couple of months and until just recently I have spent an inordinate amount of time at the king camp in seb. I would say in that time I've seen between 12-20 copies of that spell (rough estimate, I never won a copy) solely from the shroom trash.

I'm unsure if it is common among other mobs in the game, but it certainly seems fairly common from the shrooms. So I would guess that prior to the invis pulling fix, that trash was rarely cleared -- and as such, the copies that might have otherwise come from the shroom trash weren't dropping. After the invis pulling fix, I'm not sure how popular the camp was until I was there on almost a daily basis.

However, the camp is extremely popular now. The increased supply in copies of this spell certainly seems valid, given the drop chance. I highly doubt there is any duping of this spell occurring on the server.

Ive done king maybe 7-8 hours total in the last few days and ive seen 3 of them drop

What people here have said. It's been dropping a lot at King because so many people are keeping the camp on lockdown.
Hell, I sold one the other day then another dropped last night. If I don't sell this one i'll give it to a shaman friend.

Apparently I shouldn't have spent 30k for my copy a couple weeks ago.

If I added up all the plat I spent on worthless shaman spells just to complete my spell book it'd probably be over 50k.

I have seen a decent number of copies of that spell drop, as well. Although, it's not quite as numerous as Bane of Nife (and that rare shaman pet, so many copies of the shaman pet). If the price of CoTH has dropped recently, increased supply from this camp is likely the root cause.

Same story for the cobalt wrist (shrink clicky). Since it drops from this same trash, I'm assuming it was astoundingly rare in the history of the server. Now you'll notice it is fairly common in EC, and the price is dropping to reflect that increased supply.
