Also, has anyone else gotten 49 of the red jewels and realized you missed one on an earlier continent? Yeah, that sucks.

Quest for Glory - Shadows of Darkness is awesome. Gotta love all the scenes with the gnome and Baba Yaga and her skull buddy. Also, Ad Aviz is my favorite baddy.

I don't really consider EverQuest or Diablo (1 or 2) great RPGs, though they are great games. A great RPG has to really engage me with characters, plot, and to a lesser extent atmosphere, which EQ doesn't really do because you don't really get much lore just doing the occasional quest (though I do like the gods and some of the races, and it definitely does a good job with atmosphere), and Diablo (1, at least) has good atmosphere but its lore is kind of meh and not presented in a very appealing way. So as games they might rank higher than some of these, but as RPGs, the following are my favorites (in rough order):
FFVII Chrono Trigger Fallout 2 TES: Morrowind Earthbound A lot of other FFs EQ WoW Diablo 1, 2 EVO Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones Probably some others that I missed. RPGs are generally the kind of games I play then leave alone for a few years then play again so I can reexperience the story and whatnot.

Super Mario RPG, while having a gay story, had some awesome battles and also some cool tricky environments, i loved it. I think it was the last game made for the SNES as well?

Ultima Online and Everquest. MMO's pretty much had me on lock down and swayed me away from console gaming tbh.
This game if fun though: [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I never played any of the spin offs but I would think the game-play is similar.

EverQuest pulled me away from the console scene. But I have recently been getting back into it, playing Resident Evil series on ePSXemulator, and downloaded an RPG pack with about 30 games in it.
I laughed when I saw some people list games that I thought were rare. Lunar silver star story, tactics ogre, wild arms, etc. I have a really hard time picking favorites when it comes to games, because when I get into them it doesn't matter what type of game it is I'll devote a ton of time to playing it through multiple times. So instead of playing a lot of games for a little, I just play a few games a lot. There are some that me and some good friends from my childhood were really into, such as Wild Arms, FF Anthology, and especially Breath of Fire 3.
