Default Character Gravity

I noticed something that seems to be off. It has also given me problems as well. This coming from someone who has played EQ and EQ2 for almost 10+yrs now.
I noticed the weight of characters are slightly heavy. This causes a problem in several ways. One is the fact that in the original when running from a MOB that might end up killing you, you had a fighting chance by jumping which would keep you a little ahead untill your stamina was all gone and might give you a better chance of getting away.
The other problem I noticed because of this is you can't stay stationary in water in order to cast because your sinking. I tried several times to cast while under water and because I was sinking everytime I started casting I would get interupted. So that would mean the only way to cast is to be all the way at the bottom.
Not even in EQ2 do you sink unless you have a mystic spell on you that allows you to sink to the bottom.
Just somethign I noticed that was buggin me because it feels wrong.
Possibly a fix?
Thanks

I noticed the sinking as well. Not sure if that is tied to weight or not, but it is different from what I remember too.

I always remember sinking without a form of Levi and yet the z motion of sinking never interrupted my casting. I'm a pretty big kedge head so unless that zone is a special case sinking shouldn't be hosing your casting.

As for the first thing, you can still run away from mobs by jumping constantly. I do this in dungeons when I don't have selo's and it works just fine with average agility (there is, however, a separate concern that the mobs run too fast, which is a legitimate concern but not relevant to this thread and has been responded to at some point, somewhere).

As for sinking, I only sink when I'm in the first person perspective, zoomed all the way out, which is different from how I played on live (for some ungodly reason I played 1st person zoomed all the way in, which is so noobish). I find now though if I'm zoomed in all the way I don't sink. I don't know if this "sinking" effect is the correct functionality (aka: if it's "classic") but it's fucking annoying nonetheless, and I'm not sure why not being zoomed up causes it.

It's good this issue was raised etc.

The run speed is actually intended and is mentioned several times on these boards if you look it up. The rest I believe is client side. Several things I have noticed that are different for me.

1.) I hardly ever take fall damage, no matter the height.
2.) If I have levitate on and and I'm floating, I hardly sink at all.
3.) I don't sink in the water at all.

All three of these things change however if I tab out and start behaving correctly.

I have previously posted about my fall damage, and the response was that fall damage is calculated client side. Since then I have noticed that while I'm playing if I load up Fraps that it registers that I'm getting 300+ FPS**edit**300+FPS while running with no npcs or pcs in view, 90s when in EC tunnel with 30+ pcs in view**edit**, however when I tab out it drops down to 10 FPS. Maybe FPS has something to do with your problem or something that relates to this? First thing I would try is going under your options to your display tab and seeing if you your "Max. Frames per Second" is turned all the way up, mine is currently set to 100.

Yes it was in classic, I remember getting extra speed boost when jumping with my shaman towards guards in everfrost newbie zone in july 1999.

I Was unable to escape anything on P1999 with this behavior.

hah, I remember running from orc hill to the lift using jump to the best of my ability (and almost always getting fooled by the slope of false hope) and getting away until the slope mentioned above (oddly enough my stamina always ran out around that point)
