LOL...you're right. My Bard's name is Riffsteel. Wow, I just read that the Bard has a -40% xp penalty! Feel the pain burn! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

There are plenty people who hate on hybrids and or bards because of the exp penalty they bring to groups.
This was one point that I read on the WIKI that I didn't understand. I realize the XP penalty for Bards is 40%, but I did not understand how that applies to group XP. Does this mean that my character is going to soak up 40% more xp than the other members of the group?

Example Using random numbers:

My Bard is grouped with 5 others that have no XP modifier.

We kill a mob that gives 600xp. If there were no group members that had a modifier we would each receive 100xp.

But since I am a Bard the xp would be divided like this?

Me - 140xp

Everyone else would get - 92xp?

Mind you, I'm not complaining...I love playing the Bard and I'm not here to get XP as fast as possible in the least. I just want to understand the calculation. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

****EDIT******

Actually I just read through this:

http://wiki.project1999.com/Game_Mechanics

Which explains this situation, although I had to read it few times to get a grasp on it. ;P

The best way to group is always to start the group. Just do a /who search for the classes and the levels for people you want and send out tells to every person available. Should only take a couple minutes and you will probably get a lot of people wanting to join. Always always just start a group, especially a hybrid. The a again you are a bard and you can kite literally 200 mobs at once cheater, so there's that
Agreed, starting a group was always a great choice back in my old days. Back then my mezzing, manasong, haste and overall utility landed me a lot of compliments as a groupie....just gotta get back in practice. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

It really is. My first big character on P99 was a troll SK...and beyond 40 the trouble I had getting into groups forced me to roll an alt.

I had a group leader once tell me to come to the SF entrance in OT to join the group there. On getting there apparently 2 of the dps threatened to drop the group if I joined them, all because they didn't want to have their exp slowed down. That's the min/max crowd for you though... always fighting against them [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

That said, nobody wants to see a cleric, 2 paladins, 2 SKs and a ranger trying to level together [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Bards are cheaters. Since the game is 14 years old everything's trivialized and just look at some of the bard threads, people will tell you, they kite so many mobs at once in a zone like OT they'll get two levels off one pull, it takes an hour or two tho. Cheating bards!

Hey now, that's a pretty broad generalization there. There are some great Bards on p99. Not all are low HP kiting douches. BTW, if we're going to bash Bards for this, we might want to include Druids. The number of tells I get from Druids wanting me to low HP kite with them is pretty surprising.
