Default GUI XML error - Check UIErrors file

I downloaded everything and followed all the directions closely.

However, after I log in and select the Project 1999 server and push play, it goes black for a bit then crashes and gives me this error message:

GUI XML error - Check UIErrors.txt file

I rechecked the patch files, including the new one from yesterday. I rechecked all the little things I was asked to change. not sure what I am doing wrong.

Help?

Can you post the UIErrors.txt file from your Everquest folder?

You need to have the new default as default. Go through the link in my sig for default even if you want to use default_old.

I had this error running Titanium under wine until I made sure I launched eqgame from the Program\ Files/EverQuest (or equivalent) directory.

If you're getting this error in Windows, nothing to see here [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I am going to go through it now.

To be clear, I can't make it from the server select screen to character select screen. It crashes before I can get to character select.

Right, which probably means you are missing EQLS_ files (the draw file info for the character select screen) from default.

Ok, I downloaded the default and default_old in another folder in ui for later. I downloaded the UI updates into both as well as per the directions.

Now when I double click the start icon, the black game screen briefly comes up then crashes before I can see or do anything.

The default has to be default or you will continue to get errors. I suggest you rename your current default to default2 or something and the new default to default. Does that make sense?

I have a "default" folder in the "UIfiles" folder that has the default downloads as per the instructions.

I created a folder named "default_old" that is also in the "UIfiles" folder that has the default_old files downloaded to it. The folders do not have crossed/mixed files.

That is how I understood to do it per the directions in your link. Did I do something wrong?

I will rename the current "default" folder to "default2" and then unzip the the files to a brand new "default" folder. Will that work or will it be missing files from some other download I did to get set up?
