I'm thinking about starting an alt on Red with my friend. Never lived in a pvp world on EQ before so I"m curious as to the rules & regulations, and how vicious people are when bumbling noobs are scraping by in their path.

It isn't that crazy. If you have a good duo you will have a real good time. You will be able to get the camps you want and with the exp bonus it will be fun. There is no penalty for dying besides being sent back to bind spot with no mana so not a big deal if you get jumped a couple times.

Haven't been attacked much at all found plenty of EXP groups. Worst thing is the economy with retarded prices or a lot of stuff just not being available.

The rough thing about red99 is nobody really plays it except for end game, and when pvp does happen it's not really as fun as you would think and more gimmicky.

low lvl iksar is where its at
easy to navigate city plenty of good classes great newb zone you can group/solo till 20 regen/good ac stats monk/shm/cleric/war/sk all are needed on server have had some fun. xp bonus is decent due to the low pop still [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] ive had a few duo's one trio under 20 I was ganked by a yellow con wizard who went oom attacking me , ran off then battled with a necro who kept running to the guards, caught him off guard medding hit him for full damage he came back from afk ran to guards he casted on me, guards killed him he hugged guards I chased him all over hit him once then guards killed me we called it truce and duo'd the rest of the night, getting a few buffs from high lvl players or others who cant buy food water, tipped them some in exchange for some buffs then again im not end game so I can't report other than the last 48 hrs from my experience but over all an empty feel either remove /anon /roleplayer from the server remove a few zones to make the world smaller its too big with kunark to miss out on a lot more pvp, I could see it being more fun without large expansions, it had to have been a blast here pre kunark with 450 pop at 65 players and the lvl gap its a rough start for any new players compared to blue wich has so much plat and 1k pop you could lvl faster than the xp bonus here +1

Level 1-12 did not encounter pvp helped buff a bunch of noobs in CB (6 hrs /played)
Level 12-14 solo'd at chessboard in BB, some one came by with a lowbie to PL them, they kindly left me be soloing (4 hrs played, was afk a lot) Level 14-20 unrest (died 4 times from twink PK's, they logged each time after PKing me and didnt corpse camp me or stop me from looting and giong about my day, 12 hrs played over two days) - one of the unrest twinks xp'd with me for a bit (ranger with epics and fungi) 20-29 MM, grouped with a rogue, bard, sham, wiz, ench, another rogue, we tore up MM pond, was about another 12 hrs played, a few druid buffs from one of their friends. This is most recent toon, its not as good as it use to be. And you may end up soloing all the way to 40. Or not seeing any pvp at all. Or might end up just having to waste 8 hrs in a zone like unrest because someone is having a bad day and does not like you. All in all your prone to have a lot more bluebie fun and even the PvP greifing is not bad. Just be a gentleman/lady about it and don't shit up peoples zones with retarded behavior and shit talking and you'll be alright. Respect the people who have been on the box and own the items to stomp the shit out of you. Go for it if you have pals though, if you can take down those fungi rogues, great /ooc lulz to be had. I once got called the Queen of Unrest or some such for getting the nuke kill shot on Mrbigs on a wiz =) Of course I didn't solo him. P.S. if you like iksars and iksar classes, good advice to start there, a few PK's in FoB but they only log on for the lul and log off. Best newbie zone in the game + kurns and WWoods, LOIO One last bit of advice, you will level very fast no matter what char you play on so will have to pick spells and gear wisely till your 30's and 40's where you will have to stop a bit to grind platinum. But at least you don't have to grind it at level 10. Unless you want to. Just keep that in mind and plan accordingly.

I leveled to 13 solo in two sittings and only died once to a PK. It was in Crushbone of all places. Some really sad people camp out twinks in CB to gank newbies. Noticed it's always someone from the guild Knights Templar. Didn't bother me..was exciting trying to zone back and forth until blind wore off. Did bother me a bit that he felt the need to loot my 2pp. Hard to get money for spells when you're leveling so fast. They must really suck at pvp to have to gank in the lowest level dungeons to get their lulz.
But 1 time in 13 levels..who cares? It's fun and I've met a few helpful players and was always able to find mobs to kill. Besides once you level up you can always go back and get some revenge.
