Error 1018 : You currently have an active character

Anyone have any fixes for this problem? Neither p1999 or EQemu have been helpful in resolving it and both claim it is the others problem to deal with. I've tried restarting my router and restarting my computer, as well as logging into another character on another account to try to force the connection on the other account off. None of these have worked.

I've had this issue occur 4 times in the past two weeks, the p1999 server seems to hang onto my connection for hours sometimes days at a time even though none of my characters are logged on. For 3 of those 4 times i've logged out normally, no issues no disconnects. Only once was i disconnected, and that was when the server crashed.

Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

My only advice is never /q to exit the game. It always happens to me when i do that.

/q works fine for me, except when there's a mob chasing me (not necessarily hitting me). It ALWAYS without fail makes my /q put me into a long LD until the mob nearly or does kill me off.
With how fast connections are these days, there is zero reason a /q should not effectively disconnect you immediately (sans any server save /update that needs to be done).

I have never had the 1018 error from /q.

I've only had this when I'm logging into an account someone is already playing on.

If it's happening for any other reason then something in your client files is corrupted, or the server is playing up (more likely).
A petition is only thing I could suggest.

Well today I logged in my 2nd account (bugged one) and everything was ok. However when i logged my main account then switched to my 2nd account error 1018 message come back ....

Any devs. can help on this issue please ?

Petition for them to monitor and check IP logs to see if someone was in your account.

I petitioned and after checking nobody was on my 2nd account, it is really strange because this issue hits only this account and not my main account [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]


Edit : Account is hold since 24 hours + now with same error 1018.. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Why me ?!?! :'(

Haven't ever used /q for that very reason, i always camp. And this bs still happens.

I have the same issue on my 2nd account, I never /q on this one. everyday I have this message during couple hours. My main account never experienced this issue.

Editing : 6 hours + later.. account still have the following message :
Error 1018 : You currently have an active character
