Password - Still no solution?

So I went to play EQ again after several months of inactivity, and my password is not saved and is not one of my usual passwords apparently.

A forum search turns up that the password is unretrievable? Is this still true? I had a level 51 I worked very hard on, if the character is lost I guess I'm just done.

If you mean the server login password then yeah it isnt retrievable. Just have to think long and hard about what it might be.

Rogean's reasoning behind it is solid. There is no way to prove ownership of the LSAccount, since EQEmu's forums have been hacked in the past.

It sucks as a player, but this is one of those things you have to deal with when you need any expectation of security while continuing to work with a legacy system like the login server.
