Default DayZ

Wow, some people think classic EQ is hard....

This is the absolute toughest computer game I've ever played. It makes original Ultima Online look tame, and that game was the worst I'd ever seen with gank squads.

In DayZ you don't really even stand a chance against the zeds. You start buck nekkid and have to scrounge for everything. And just when you have a nice kit some jackarse will snipe you and take it all away. No respawn, you die its permanent.

Because well all know how hard a CoD sandbox game that is all about ganking is. Also the only reason the zeds are hard to kill is because of the shitty AI.

As opposed to an RPG who's most astonishing feats are accomplished with an auto attack key, a level 39 spell, and counting to ten?

Not sure what you mean by COD style either. This is a realistic shooter not arcade style deathmatch. Stealth and planning are major factors in survival.

Scrounging for rotten beans to eat or a pond to fill your limited water supply add a great deal to the stress of Zeds and bandits.

There really is nothing quite like this on the market. I haven't had this much fun playing a game in a very long time.

I am especially happy to see one that totally does away with the carrot on a stick almost all games have trended to. I'm sure this game won't go over well with the WOW kiddies.

Once you get the hang of it, DayZ in Chernarus is incredibly easy.

It might just be that on my server(friend of mine runs it) we have some tent camps set way out in the middle of nowhere(i.e nowhere near any loot areas) that we've put some stuff in, but even before that it wasn't much of a challenge. We've all mostly quit because once you get your ghillie suit, NODs, and your weapon of choice you only have flying around in a helicopter and shooting people as options.

Zombies are easy to deal with even without any means to defend yourself. Running through buildings, knowing how their AI works, and knowing the layouts of most cities makes them so non-threatening that I always sprint because lol-zombies can't get me unless they turn out to be Mike Tyson and knock me out with a single hit through a wall.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzn9A...utu.be&t=4m18s Something my friend recorded, felt relevant. The thermal came from when we hopped servers to loot a hacker clan's camp while they were hopping to kill some other clan.

DayZ in Lingor, however, is loads of fun. A lot less needless running, better spaced out item spawns and cities as well as p much every building is enterable, and even though zombies are still pretty easy, you'll have a harder time avoiding contact with them. They seem to pick up on you a lot quicker, so you either go all in on stealth or not at all. A friend and I found that it's a lot of fun running around the islands with nothing but a Lee Enfield killing people. Less time spent running around, more time spent shooting things and actually seeing other people.

The Day Z mod shows a ton of potential for future games like it. I'm eager to see how the standalone turns out.

Also, I recently bought ARMA II mainly just to play Day Z, but once I started playing ARMA II single-player, I realized that it's great fun just by itself, and is very challenging. Highly recommended.
