Question Restarting-Flat Broke

If you don't mind, Would you give me your opinion on what would be the best course for me to take with a new character. Given that I am without resources to outfit myself, and assuming that I'll need to solo to level up, what is in high need that has solo-ability? Or do i just roll a necro and forget about grouping?

/Agree with mage.

I rolled a mage with no money or help from friends. I wore my newb robe until I was level 50. It's great to be independent of gear. Hardest thing will be saving up / spending time to farm focus items.

I have never played a necro, but others say it's a great class for the gear independent person starting over.

I start hunting wisps at 8 or 9 (depending on wis or int caster) for money.

Fire for soloing and Wind for grouping. Earth can be useful too. Water only after it obtains backstabbing ability at 54th.

There are a very small handful of items that will help you level. Just concentrate on the focus item quests such as Torch of Alna.
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=694

Just gather the quest items, one by one. Wath for Gornit... oh the adventures you shall have!

Well it's a bit late to the party, but if you can suffer through for a little bit, rogues are very, very cheap to gear well on the whole.
