Default some positive aspects of the lower pop atm

a) people being friendly and helpful alot trying to foster a positive place for ppl to nerd out
b) less high lvl players in general = harder for people to get PL'd for people so alts are lvling in groups with new players more of varying classes instead of just 50 fungi/cof/tstaff monks runin around every newb zone with druid in tow
c) EC economy crashing down to the point where gear that you don't use and isnt valued at many 10's of thousands of plat isnt being sold just handed out for free to new people

add your own
just got sick of the doom and gloom about the lower pop. thought some positive spin might help out.
Definetly sucks cause I havnt been up to the planes in last 2 weeks and still need my tear for sham epic but on the plus I have been havin a blast lvling my new ench alt

It sure makes the need for a good active guild very important at the lower and mid levels.

Im finding the economy the opposite, alot less for sale and seems like prices are getting higher for lower/mid lvl items, thats if you can even find what your looking for up for sale.

What he said. High end stuff cheaper because no one on to buy it.

There's very little permacamped now, so that's something.

EC market has crashed.

There is less volume of goods being brought to market. 2-3 weeks ago, about the same time fungi hit 50k, there was still a lot of loot coming to market. A lot of sebilis loot, now there is like none of that (clay guardian sheilds, seb scale, hieros). Most of EC shit, is a few things from kanors, and all loot from mistmoore/solb. People still think that the Wiki is accurate for prices, and it really isn't. HOODED BLACK CLOAK ISN'T 2-2.5K PEOPLE, that is the one item I see all day every day.

Not many or no tradeskillers. Its not worth it to do them, as the prices to engage in them will always remain the same, but the value of PP is going up. No smiths, I think Borodin is the only active smith. Nobody is buying handmade backpacks which means a few things. It means there is no more need for mules to carry the stuff that is being farmed. It means that there are no new players that need to expand out their bank slots. It means there are no new alts being made that need new bank slots.

HBC is one item I never have trouble moving. They are auctioned a lot but there is still a good demand for it because it is a great item for 2K+ for all melees, and better cloaks like CoF are in another league price wise. Not saying I don't see them go for less but you definitely aren't getting robbed if you pay 2k or so for one.

Certain higher end items are definitely not moving like they used to. However, you do see more people making trades than just buying stuff with plat. Maybe this has to do with more RMT accounts being recently banned.

People experiencing real life and possibly getting laid. Probably not though.

Default Low pop

I really dont care much about all the gear prices, just love playing the game. If you play it, gear will come...

Geting beat by EZ server population wise should be a wake up call.
I've been rather busy in real life, so I haven't been on in a few weeks to check, but I highly doubt EZ is actually higher than P99 population-wise. Remember EZ is a pro-box server and the server pop numbers at server select reflect clients logged into the server, not unique players. Expect EZ's pop to be about 1/3rd to 1/4th what it shows. Even if they were to legitimately surpass P99 in player count who cares? Does it actually physically harm you that some people are playing another server and not God-Send-Classic-EQ? I dislike EZ as well but...

I personally think EQEmu should do what Live did. Replace the pop numbers with UP, DOWN, and LOCKED (although since DOWN servers just get removed from the list, likely to prevent flooding the list with inactive test servers, it would really only ever show UP or LOCKED. Also LOCKED already displays. But whatever.) to get people to shut up about the exact numbers and focus more on what you see in game. May stave off some of the doomsayers.
